Vietnam People's Navy 70 years of keeping the "Oath to Protect the Sea" intact

The program will be broadcast from 20:10 to 21:20 on May 5, 2025 on VTV1 Channel, Vietnam Television. The program tells the story of the heroic Navy's 70-year journey of bravery, intelligence, creativity, and mastery of the sea.

With the participation of many historical witnesses, the program has many special highlights. More than 60 years ago, when the resistance war against the US entered its fierce phase, the "Ship Without Number" quietly crossed the East Sea, supplying weapons and supplementing combat forces for the southern battlefield.

One of the first people on the journey of “opening the way on air” was People’s Armed Forces Hero Phan Van Nho (aka Tu Mau). The program crew returned to his hometown in Kien Giang province to record the memories of his comrades and relatives about this hero.

One of the “legendary” forces of the Vietnam People’s Navy, the enemy’s obsession, is the water commando. In 7 years, at Cua Viet, the water commando soldiers fought more than 300 battles, sank and damaged 336 American and puppet ships of all kinds, and destroyed many war vehicles. Appearing in the program, Hero of the People’s Armed Forces Tran Quang Khai revealed the method that helped him and his teammates destroy a 15,000-ton American oil tanker. This was a shocking event, widely reported by the US press at that time. The commando soldiers were also the core force in the campaign to liberate the Truong Sa archipelago in 1975.

To help the audience better understand the spirit of protecting the sea of the Navy today, the program crew followed Working Group No. 8 to Truong Sa archipelago. Here, the crew met, learned and recorded many valuable materials. Among them, it is necessary to mention the friendly, simple and meaningful exchange with Lieutenant Colonel Can Ngoc Son, Commander of Truong Sa island, and fishermen who are fishing in Truong Sa sea. In addition, other young faces of the Navy also appeared in the program, representing a generation of Navy soldiers with intelligence, bravery and a strong will to master the sea.

The program features the participation of singers: People's Artist Quang Tho, Hoa Minzy, Pham Thu Ha, OPlus, Meritorious Artist Phuong Anh, Symphony Orchestra of Vietnam National Academy of Music and many other artists.
