Accordingly, at around 11:22 a.m. on November 1, Ms. NTN (residing in Duong No ward) received a call from a strange mobile phone number claiming to be from Duong No ward police. This person informed Ms. N. that she needed to bring the couple's ID cards and the child's birth certificate to Duong No ward police to complete the information registration procedure and get the child's electronic file code for the police to work.

The subjects requested to add Ms. N. and her husband as friends on Zalo and contact them via video call to guide them on how to log in to the VneID application by downloading the application via the link http://chinhphu-vngov.cc (this is a fake link created by the subjects).

After accessing the app download link, Ms. N. followed the required steps: Entering information about herself, her husband, and her children and verifying her face. Next, the video call subjects asked to provide images of documents to integrate health insurance, driver's license, and vehicle registration certificate through the call.

Believing that it was the Duong No Ward Police, Ms. N. and her husband followed the instructions. At 12:33 p.m. the same day, Ms. N. discovered that her and her husband's bank accounts had received notifications of money transfers to strange accounts totaling more than 524 million VND.

The Criminal Police Department of Hue City Police recommends that people be vigilant when receiving calls claiming to be from state management agencies, bank employees, network operators, etc., asking for personal information. At the same time, absolutely do not share or provide personal information to others via phone or social networks.

In addition, people need to directly contact the police of the ward or commune where they reside when receiving a request to edit/add personal information and contact the hotline number of the network operator or bank when receiving a request to standardize subscriber information or bank account.
