South Korea warns North Korea of 'destructive hell'

VnExpressVnExpress14/12/2023

South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik warned North Korea that it faces "hellish destruction" if it takes reckless actions that undermine peace .

"North Korea has only two options: peace or destruction. If North Korea makes reckless moves that harm peace, the only thing waiting for it is hell and destruction. Our military must clearly emphasize this to North Korea," South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik said on December 13.

South Korea's defense minister also criticized the administration of former President Moon Jae-in's peace approach to North Korea, calling it a "staged deception."

"The peace process on the Korean Peninsula, which depends on North Korea's goodwill and unrealistic optimism, is completely fake. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a carefully planned scam," Mr. Shin said.

Mr. Shin also called for educating the South Korean military in strong fighting spirit, describing it as "a source of strength for the Ukrainian and Israeli armies in conflicts."

South Korea's defense minister has recently made unusually harsh comments about North Korea, threatening to launch a missile strike on the "heart and mind" of Pyongyang in the event of conflict.

Last week, South Korea, along with its allies the United States and Japan, announced a new trilateral initiative to counter North Korea, including a decision to jointly share real-time data on Pyongyang's missile launches.

The US, South Korea and Japan also accused North Korea of using ballistic missile technology in its satellite launch in November, violating multiple UN Security Council resolutions.

A North Korean defense ministry spokesman later warned that any interference with its satellite operations would be a declaration of war. North Korea also stressed that it would conduct a "war deterrent" if any attack on its strategic weapons was imminent.
