Music performance in the cave
Amid the sweltering heat of summer, Asia's longest cave with its cool, pleasant air and a variety of entertainment options has become a tourist attraction in China.
Shuanghe Cave, with a total length of 257.4km, located in the tourist area called Twelve Back in Suiyang County, Guizhou Province, Southwest China, was recognized by international scientists as the longest cave in Asia in 2018.
Tourists are allowed to access the cave within a 4.8km limit, which is estimated to take about 2 hours to walk.
During the May Day holiday, the Twleve Back resort hosted a six-day music festival featuring concerts, rock 'n' roll and symphony performances, attracting some 38,000 visitors and music enthusiasts.
The manager of Yi Chuanbo resort said that after this event, the number of tourists coming to the resort also increased, about 1,200-1,500 visitors/day.
Tourists consider this an attractive tourist destination thanks to the series of entertainment activities organized by Twelve Back here, such as visiting the cave's unique karst terrain, in addition to research activities, camping, music festivals...
The resort has added a range of new activities such as rock climbing, canyoning, poetry and creative events to cater to the diverse and individual needs of tourists.
Luo Jianjun, the resort's office manager, said that while people used to only visit during the day, many now choose to stay overnight at the resort so they can participate in a variety of activities.
Jiang Wei, a cave exploration expert, said that Shuanghe Cave has a very special structure consisting of 4 layers, including 8 main caves and more than 200 branch caves.
Jiang Wei said the cave structure located in this special cave has attracted many people who are passionate about exploration and adventure.
Li Yun, deputy head of the Suiyang County Culture and Tourism Bureau, said local authorities have many plans to develop new and innovative activities to improve the quality of local tourism.
