Arriving at Tran Phu ward, Ha Tinh province, we visited the family of young man Tran Van Gia Huy, born in 2007, in Minh Yen residential group, one of the outstanding young men of the Catholic region who volunteered to join the army this time.

During the recent ward-level military service examination, knowing that his son met the standards to participate in the regional examination, Mr. Tran Van Giang, the father of young man Tran Van Gia Huy, was very excited and anxiously waiting for the day to take his son for the regional examination.

“After finishing high school, my child applied to work as a worker at a local company, but when we were informed about his responsibility to protect the Fatherland, my family encouraged him to volunteer to join the army and participate in the examination. If he is selected to join the army this time, it will be a good environment for him to train and grow,” Mr. Giang confided.

Young man Mai Trong Nam, Quan Nam village, Hong Loc commune (Ha Tinh), although he already had a stable job at Hospital 103, still volunteered to join the army.

As for young man Mai Trong Nam, born in 2003, from Quan Nam village, Hong Loc commune (Ha Tinh), these days he is also looking forward to the day he can go for military service examination.

After graduating from high school, Nam applied and passed the entrance exam to Ha Dong Medical College, majoring in nursing. After graduating, he was accepted as a nursing doctor at Military Hospital 103. Coming from a family with a revolutionary tradition, Nam clearly understood the qualities needed in a military environment. Therefore, when being informed about the responsibilities of the younger generation, and being encouraged by his grandparents and parents, Nam temporarily put his work aside to register for military service this time.

Young Mai Trong Nam shared: “The army is a good environment for me to be challenged, to practice my mettle, discipline and accumulate military knowledge and skills. With my existing professional qualifications, when joining the army, I want to promote my “medical ethics” in a new environment and my wish is to mature and serve long-term in the army with my training expertise”.

The 2026 military recruitment season is the first year of transferring the entire process to the commune level. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of military recruitment when implementing the two-level local government model, the Provincial Military Command has advised local Party committees and authorities to direct communes to focus on propaganda and dissemination work to raise awareness and responsibility in participating in protecting the Fatherland for all classes of people, especially young people of military age.

Notably, localities have paid attention to and resolutely directed the military recruitment work, considering it a local political task of the year. Along with strengthening inspection and supervision throughout the implementation process, many localities have had mechanisms and policies to care for the families of young men ready to join the army.

Thanks to the attention of the Party Committee, government and organizations, the military recruitment work in Huong Khe commune (Ha Tinh) has initially achieved quality and met the targets.

Typical examples include Hong Loc, Mai Phu, Huong Khe communes; Hai Ninh, Tran Phu wards... local Party committees and authorities focused on leading and directing functional branches to research and perfect regulations, create mechanisms to care for and ensure good policies for the Army's rear for young men who joined the army and soldiers who completed their military service and returned to their localities. In particular, localities directed the exploitation of socialized resources to give savings books to young men who joined the army.

Comrade Vo Ta Binh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hong Loc Commune (Ha Tinh) said: "The commune has policies such as: Priority support for land allocation; vocational training and employment counseling; labor export; loans for economic development... to encourage and motivate young people to enthusiastically join the army."

Along with closely monitoring the situation of young people of the right age, the Party Committee, government and mass organizations of Hong Loc commune (Ha Tinh) have had many mechanisms and policies to care for the military's rear for young people preparing to join the army.

Up to now, the whole Ha Tinh province has had nearly 890 young people volunteering to join the army and participate in the people's police service. Colonel Vo Quang Thien, Political Commissar of the Military Command of Ha Tinh province, said: "When writing applications to volunteer to join the army, young people not only express their feelings and responsibilities as young people, but also arouse their dreams and ambitions to study, train, establish themselves and make a career. Thereby, contributing to inspiring and encouraging today's young generation to enthusiastically volunteer to join the army."
