Innovative approach to inspiration

Realizing the role of ideological work, the Armed Forces of Hau Giang province have innovated methods, focusing on people, especially young soldiers, ethnic minority soldiers, and soldiers in special circumstances.

One effective way is to implement “optional political hours”, where soldiers can propose topics and participate in discussions under the guidance of political officers. Instead of absorbing information in one direction, soldiers are encouraged to debate and argue, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of the meaning of each issue. In addition, political education content is also incorporated into practical activities such as training, marching or exercises on the training ground. This approach helps soldiers feel the value of revolutionary ideals in a vivid and intimate way.

Major Dang Xuan Kham, Political Commissar of the Training Battalion, Regiment 114 (Hau Giang Provincial Military Command) shared: “We always listen to each soldier. Each person has their own story, their own thoughts. The conversations help us understand and guide the soldiers to be steadfast in both thinking and action.”

In recent times, the Hau Giang Provincial Military has also combined ideological work with cultural, artistic, sports and mass mobilization activities. Exchange sessions, documentary film screenings and traditional storytelling have become "spiritual meals", nurturing the belief and revolutionary ideals in each young soldier. Stories about the examples of overcoming difficulties and fighting bravely of previous generations have instilled in each soldier a sense of pride and determination to complete their tasks.

Proactively confront misinformation

To cope with the challenges from bad and toxic information, the Hau Giang Provincial Military Command not only educates but also actively fights on the ideological front. Ideological work does not stop at propaganda and education but also involves the process of detecting, orienting and providing psychological support to soldiers, especially in the context of the increasingly large impact of bad and toxic information. Political cadres at all levels in the Provincial Military Command always proactively monitor and grasp the ideological and psychological situation of soldiers. Any deviations, no matter how small, are detected, analyzed and handled promptly, contributing to maintaining unity in thought and action.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Minh Duc, Political Commissar of the Hau Giang Provincial Military Command, said: “Grasping the ideological situation of the troops is the top requirement. Each political officer must truly be a companion, understanding the soldiers' thoughts, thereby providing timely guidance, helping them maintain their courage and faith, not wavering in any circumstances.”

To support this work, the Hau Giang Provincial Military Command has established psychological and legal consulting teams within the unit. These teams play an important “bridge” role between commanders and soldiers, helping to promptly resolve psychological and ideological difficulties, contributing to maintaining internal stability.

The power of political ideology is clearly demonstrated through the concrete actions of the Hau Giang Provincial Armed Forces, especially in serving the people, affirming the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers. During the serious landslide in Chau Thanh district in 2023, Hau Giang Provincial Armed Forces soldiers did not mind the difficulties, day and night supporting people to relocate their properties and rebuild their houses. That image has been deeply engraved in the hearts of the people, becoming a symbol of the close relationship between the army and the people.

Mrs. Ho Thi Y, Phu Tri hamlet, Phu Tan commune, Chau Thanh district emotionally shared: “When the landslide happened, my family panicked, not knowing what to do. The soldiers came immediately, helped us move our belongings, and rebuild the house. Seeing them working regardless of the wind and rain, I felt so sorry and grateful. Uncle Ho's soldiers are truly the people's support!”

Comrade Ngo Minh Quan, a militiaman in Nga Sau town, Chau Thanh district, shared: “The relationship between the army and the people is like fish and water. When the people are in trouble, if the soldiers step back, who will take care of them? Supporting the people is a duty, a pride, in accordance with Uncle Ho's teaching: All for the people”.

Not only stopping at practice, Hau Giang Provincial Armed Forces are also pioneers in protecting the Party's ideals in cyberspace. Groups and pages have been established to refute false information and protect the prestige of the Party and the Army. This is a testament to the sensitivity and adaptability of the Provincial Armed Forces in the digital age.

Lessons for the future

From the practical implementation of ideological work, the Hau Giang Provincial Military has drawn many valuable lessons. In particular, ideological work must be placed at the center of all leadership and command activities, always linking theory with practice, taking people as the center. This is not only the task of political agencies but also the common responsibility of Party committees and commanders at all levels.
