Focus on rapid project implementation
Vong Nguyet pumping station performs combined irrigation tasks, including 12 units, with a flow rate of 3,040 m3 /unit/hour, with the task of irrigating nearly 80 hectares of agricultural land and draining 1,883 hectares of the basin of the communes: Tam Giang, Yen Phong and part of Van Mon commune. Due to the impact of storm No. 3 (YAGI) occurring in September 2024, the pumping station had a burst discharge tank that could not meet the requirements for flood prevention. With the attention of the province, the pumping station was invested 6 billion VND to urgently fix the subsidence of the discharge tank. According to Mr. Nguyen Van Ty, Chairman of Bac Duong Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company, after nearly 3 months of construction, the emergency construction project of the discharge tank of Vong Nguyet pumping station has been 100% completed, ready to serve flood prevention.

Similarly, the project to upgrade and renovate Huu Chap pumping station, Vu Ninh ward, invested by Bac Duong Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company with a total investment of nearly 280 billion VND, has been extended by the Provincial People's Committee until the end of December 2025 to serve the drainage of water for agricultural production, people's lives, and urban areas of Vu Ninh and Kinh Bac wards, and is also being accelerated. At the project site, there are often dozens of mechanical vehicles, such as excavators, trucks, rollers and about 30 - 40 workers working 2 shifts/day, striving to complete the project on schedule.
It is known that, implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, immediately after being assigned the task of being the investor of emergency treatment projects for irrigation works occurring during the 2024 rainy and stormy season, Bac Duong Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company focused on implementing, directing, and urging to speed up the progress of the works. Up to now, all projects have been completed, meeting the requirements of flood prevention tasks during the rainy and stormy season.
Determined not to let flooding happen
This year's crop, Bac Duong Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company is responsible for irrigating and draining more than 21,000 hectares of cultivated land, and draining nearly 32,000 hectares of industrial, residential, and aquaculture land. Entering the rainy and stormy season, all preparations for human resources, materials, and means to be ready to respond to flooding situations have been completed by the Company with the highest goal. In particular, the Company has proactively developed a plan to prevent flooding and natural disasters, clearly identifying vulnerable points and dangerous areas at risk of flooding, thereby proposing effective solutions.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tat Hoan, Deputy Director in charge of irrigation and drainage of the Company, the unit has soon developed a plan for natural disaster prevention and control in 2025. Accordingly, the entire area under the Company's responsibility for drainage is divided into 16 drainage zones. Based on the analysis and assessment of the capacity of each zone, the best solution is to proactively pump and drain buffer water, increase the water storage capacity of the system in ponds, canals and well implement measures to bury and drain water. When flooding occurs, operate the pumping according to the established plan and plan, grasp the current flooding situation to make timely adjustments, and pay attention to resolving related drainage zones. On the other hand, the water level at the suction and discharge tanks of each project and pumping station is calculated, regulated and operated by the Company in accordance with different times of the crop season, the growth period of crops and the development of rain and floods.
In addition to early development of implementation plans for each unit and locality, the Company has organized inspections of all culverts under the dike and irrigation works and factories; developed a program to inspect flood and storm prevention and control plans and outlined situations and made decisions on handling at key projects; clearly assigned tasks to member enterprises to prepare materials and spare means; organized training on flood and storm prevention and control, and rescue for the rescue force. To improve flood control capacity, the Company proactively proposed to the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment to invest in maintenance, repair, and maintenance funds, ensuring that 100% of the pumping units operate well when situations arise.
The rainy and stormy season is taking place with many unexpected situations, along with flood and storm prevention, the work of preventing inland flooding is becoming an important task. With the initiative in implementing infrastructure upgrading projects; developing plans and solutions; being proactive in preparing human resources, materials, means... is the premise for Bac Duong Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company and localities in the basin to complete the task of preventing flooding.
