The effectiveness of land accumulation models in the coastal commune of Hoang Tien

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - The new Hoang Tien commune was established on the basis of merging 4 coastal communes of the old Hoang Hoa district, including: Hoang Tien, Hoang Hai, Hoang Yen and Hoang Truong. The total natural area of the whole commune is 23.79 km2, including 27 villages with more than 29,600 people. As a commune with 2.8 km of coastline, with 2 rivers flowing through, Lach Truong River and Cung River, Hoang Tien has a lot of room for economic development. Not only in the field of tourism, models of land accumulation into production areas in the agricultural sector need to be exploited, maintained and promoted effectively.

The effectiveness of land accumulation models in the coastal commune of Hoang Tien

Officials of Hoang Tien commune check the potato growing area in Kim Son village field.

The fields of Kim Son village have become more vibrant in the past 5 years thanks to the land accumulation model for growing commodity crops such as potatoes, soybeans, vegetables, and sweet corn. Mr. Le Van Tu, head of Kim Son village, said: Kim Son village has a natural area of 94.32 hectares, a population of only more than 210 households with more than 900 people. This is one of the villages with high income in the commune, the average income per capita of the village reaches 77.2 million VND/year. Because, not only strongly developing service industries, agricultural production with land accumulation models for growing commodity crops also contributes to bringing stable income to farmers.

According to Mr. Tu, 2025 is the 5th consecutive year that people here have produced potatoes in a joint venture. One sao of potatoes can bring economic efficiency 3-4 times higher than growing rice; one sao of soybeans and vegetables also brings twice the efficiency of growing rice. Therefore, in the village, some households have stood up to accumulate and concentrate land by renting land, borrowing land and contributing land for joint production. Although the production area is not large, about 7-8 hectares/crop, during the production process, people are guided on techniques, have stable output, and those who have land to rent or lend are hired as seasonal workers, so "both sides benefit".

Not only in the field of cultivation, Hoang Tien commune also has many advantages when it has about 300 hectares of water surface for aquaculture. The locality actively calls for and attracts organizations and individuals to invest in the field of aquaculture, gradually forming large-scale concentrated aquaculture areas. Infrastructure in aquaculture areas such as roads, electricity, water supply and drainage systems... are gradually invested synchronously, creating favorable conditions for people to apply high-tech farming models. Many households have accumulated and concentrated land in the commune's aquaculture area to invest in intensive shrimp farming models, from outdoor tarpaulin farming to indoor farming models with roofs with large investments.

Mr. Le Van Cam, a household with more than 3 hectares of intensive shrimp farming in Hung Tien village, said: Accumulating land for industrial shrimp farming brings high efficiency, but the issue of environmental protection, especially water resources, is a challenge for many aquaculture households. Therefore, for sustainable development models, the locality needs to plan a concentrated shrimp farming area, ensuring environmental and water resource requirements, updating and guiding advanced shrimp farming technical processes, creating favorable conditions for shrimp farming households to develop stably, bringing high productivity and output.

In recent times, in Hoang Tien commune as well as other localities in the province, the accumulation of land to develop agricultural models has contributed to creating high agricultural value, helping farmers get rich by farming. According to statistics of the People's Committee of Hoang Tien commune, in the commune there are currently 274 hectares of agricultural land accumulated and concentrated for large-scale agricultural production, applying high technology. The value of products per hectare of cultivated land and aquaculture of the commune by 2025 is estimated to reach 359 million VND/ha.

From that fundamental advantage, Hoang Tien commune determined that agricultural development in the direction of land accumulation and concentration for clean agricultural production, applying high technology is the orientation for the following years. In particular, the field of cultivation focuses on developing large-scale production linkages, production according to VietGAP standards, organic standards...; aquaculture continues to maintain and develop high-tech aquaculture, promoting sustainable aquaculture, multi-species, multi-cropping, multi-seasonal aquaculture, ensuring stable income for people. In order for land accumulation models for agricultural development in the coastal commune of Hoang Tien to continue to be maintained and promoted effectively, reasonable support policies are also needed to motivate farmers.
