Ms. Le Thi Hong Van, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy , Secretary General of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO; Mr. Luu Van Duc, National Assembly Delegate, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-India Parliamentary Friendship Group; Ambassador of Thailand to Vietnam and Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Vietnam attended the event.
2025 marks the 10th anniversary of International Yoga Day, after the United Nations General Assembly Resolution was unanimously adopted with the co-sponsorship of Vietnam in 2015.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Sandeep Arya, Ambassador of India to Vietnam, shared that Yoga is an ancient Indian practice originating from the Sanskrit word “union” which means the unity between a person’s body and mind, between humans and nature.

The theme of this year's International Yoga Day is “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, emphasizing the close connection between personal health and the health of the planet.
This theme affirms that improving physical, mental and cognitive health through Yoga will contribute to promoting a sustainable lifestyle, for the common future of all humanity and the earth.

At the event, Ms. Le Thi Hong Van, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy, Secretary General of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, highly appreciated the Embassy of India in Vietnam for organizing a meaningful activity, contributing to spreading the spirit of peace , solidarity and health - the core values that Yoga brings to humanity.
"Yoga is not only physical movements or breathing techniques, but also a philosophy of life, a connection between body - mind - spirit, between humans and nature, and between nations; bringing a profound humanistic message: living in harmony, positivity and awareness", the Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy emphasized.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2025, promotional events and demonstrations of Yoga protocols are being held at more than 40 locations in many provinces and cities of Vietnam. |
The theme of the 11th International Yoga Day is “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” which fully demonstrates the spirit and noble meaning of Yoga.
Ms. Le Thi Hong Van said that the image of Yoga classes with many students, from urban to rural areas, from the elderly to the young, has become familiar and close to the lives of Vietnamese people. Vietnam and India have long had a traditional friendship, tied by cultural similarities and common human values.

Cultural exchange activities like today are vivid evidence of the increasingly strong friendship between the two countries.
The Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy affirmed: " The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO are ready to accompany activities to enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and India."
