On the evening of May 19, the Ministry of Public Security announced that the Office of the Investigation Police Agency had prosecuted five people, including Miss Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien (27 years old, in Ho Chi Minh City), for their involvement in the case of manufacturing counterfeit food products that occurred at Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company and Asia Life Joint Stock Company.
Thuy Tien was prosecuted for "Deceiving customers" after participating in business cooperation and promoting Kera vegetable candy products - a product that was later concluded by authorities to be counterfeit.
The incident immediately caused a stir in public opinion. A famous figure, who once had a positive image and great influence on social networks, was caught up in a scandal related to fake food.
Advertising products safe for babies and pregnant women
In December 2024, Thuy Tien announced a partnership with Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company to launch the Kera vegetable candy brand. On her Facebook page with more than 2.6 million followers, she continuously shares articles, images, and promotional videos with content full of love and pride.

During the livestream sessions selling Kera vegetable candy, Thuy Tien made many "winged" statements to advertise this candy.
One of her notable statements is: "Babies over 3 years old can eat it. Pregnant mothers can also eat it. Because these are natural products, coming from fruits grown in Dak Lak and the Central Highlands."
Also in the livestreams, Thuy Tien affirmed that the cooperation with Kera was a coincidence: "I was very lucky to meet Ms. Hang Du Muc and Mr. Quang Linh. From there, we had great ideas. We saw that Vietnamese agricultural products have a lot of potential and wanted to develop products to bring agricultural products closer to consumers."

According to her, Kera is not only a commercial project but also has a personal mark.
"I am someone who doesn't know how to eat vegetables and I believe there are many people like me, especially children who are picky eaters of vegetables. A person who is afraid of the smell of vegetables like me can still eat Kera candy very well. Just 2-3 pills a day is enough to supplement fiber," Thuy Tien advertised in the livestream.
Notably, Chi Em Rot Group JSC and three prominent names Thuy Tien, Hang Du Muc and Quang Linh Vlogs also appeared in a well-invested TVC advertisement with meticulous images, simulating the Kera candy production process with high standards.
In the production promotion video, the raw materials are introduced as vegetables from Da Lat, transferred to the factory in Dak Lak in moderate quantities, under strict control processes.
The images show workers wearing full protective gear, clean production lines, and vegetables processed through modern machinery. All of this is to build trust in a safe, standard product.

Before the scandal broke out, Thuy Tien was asked if she should eat a lot of Kera candy. She answered half-jokingly, half-seriously: "You should eat in moderation. You should only eat 2-3 pieces a day, otherwise you will have a terrible time."
At that time, the audience considered this a joke, entertaining. But when the incident broke out, the promotional clips were "dug up" and placed in a new context, many people began to ask: Did Thuy Tien and the Chi Em Rot side know about the problem before but still continued to deceive the public?
People "fall into traps" because they trust celebrities
With a neat image, emotional advertising and the constant presence of influential faces on social media platforms, Kera quickly won the trust of a large number of consumers.

Many mothers do not hesitate to spend hundreds of thousands of dong to buy Kera candy for their children, believing that it is a healthy alternative to vegetables.
It was not until the first suspicions arose about ingredients not matching the declared label and Thuy Tien quietly removed all content related to Kera on her personal Facebook that consumers suddenly realized: they were being led by a carefully calculated media campaign.
The fact that the case was prosecuted, punished and prosecuted is not only a wake-up call about legal responsibility in product promotion activities, but also exposes the dark side of the trend of celebrities entering the business world.
When trust is stolen, the consequences are not simply the collapse of a brand, but the collapse of an image.
The published figures have shocked the public even more. According to the conclusion of the authorities, from December 12, 2024 to March 19, Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company released a total of 135,325 boxes of Kera vegetable candy to the market, seriously affecting the rights of consumers.
With a listed price of VND150,000/box, revenue from this product is estimated to exceed VND20 billion. The main distribution channels include TikTok Shop through livestreams of Hang Du Muc and Quang Linh Vlogs, along with social network Facebook and the official website.
