On major roads in Vinh city ( Nghe An ) such as Le Duan, Nguyen Van Cu, Le Hong Phong, etc., flowers and gifts for International Women's Day (March 8) are displayed quite abundantly and eye-catchingly. However, in general, purchasing power has decreased, most of the flower and gift selling points are deserted.

According to records, single roses cost about 10,000 VND/flower, bouquets range from 200,000 - 1 million VND, depending on the size and type of flower. Imported flowers such as tulips, peonies, etc. are still sold but the number of buyers is not much.

Ms. Phan Thanh, owner of a flower shop on Le Duan Street, said: “This year, the price of fresh flowers has increased slightly, with many diverse segments, but purchasing power has not increased as strongly as expected. I have been selling flowers here for two days but have very few customers. Hopefully, it will be better in the evening.”

Wax roses with many eye-catching designs and colors are priced from 100,000 VND/bunch. According to the seller, wax roses are durable, do not spoil, and are affordable. In the photo, the seller is waiting for customers to buy.

Some stores design baskets and gift boxes that combine fresh flowers and fruits, both spiritual and practical. The price of each gift basket depends on the types of fruits and fresh flowers.

“Depending on the needs of customers, we make gift baskets with different prices. Most of the fruit baskets costing millions of dong use imported high-end fruits combined with imported tulips, peonies, and carnations. As for the popular baskets, we mainly use hydrangeas combined with grapes or cherries, strawberries, etc. This year's purchasing power is somewhat lower than last year's,” said the owner of an imported fruit store on Le Hong Phong Street.

Grasping the needs and shopping habits of customers, some flower and gift shops promote online sales via Facebook, Zalo...; offer promotional programs such as: free gift delivery, greeting cards,...

“Customers mainly order online because they are more proactive in choosing designs to request the shop to make, while very few people come to buy directly at the store. We have to hire more staff to arrange flowers, check messages, advise customers and close orders,” said Mr. Linh, owner of a flower shop on Ha Huy Tap Street.
