Pre-match comments

After being booed by their own home crowd for their humiliating 0-1 defeat to Chelsea last weekend, Tottenham quickly regained their spirits with a convincing 4-0 win over Copenhagen in the Champions League.

After leading 2-0 and down to 10 men when Brennan Johnson received a red card, Tottenham still made fans ecstatic with a solo goal from Micky van de Ven, before Joao Palhinha sealed the score at 4-0.

The win has helped Spurs rekindle their confidence, but coach Thomas Frank remains cautious. “The team has taken a step forward, both in style and in formation. But we need to show that this is not just a one-off game,” he said.

Tottenham are currently ranked 6th in the table, just 1 point behind Liverpool (3rd). A win against MU would help them win three consecutive matches against the Red Devils in the top flight of English football for the first time since the 1959/60 season, after completing the "double" last season.

However, the numbers are not in the home team's favour: Tottenham are the Premier League's most defeated club at home in 2025 (9 games). Historically, they have only lost more at home twice, in 1994 and 2003 (10 games each year). Coach Thomas Frank himself has won just three of his last 16 Premier League home games (D4 L9), including his time in charge of Brentford.

On the other hand, coach Ruben Amorim and his players are showing clear progress after a difficult opening period. After a 1-3 defeat to Brentford at the end of September, MU won three consecutive matches in the Premier League before drawing 2-2 with Nottingham Forest last weekend.

At the City Ground, despite leading 1-0 at half-time, the Red Devils were surprised to see Gibbs-White and Nicolo Savona score twice in just three minutes. However, Amad Diallo was the hero with a stunning volley in the 81st minute to earn the visitors a point and extend their run of scoring two or more goals in four consecutive games.

Amorim, who was nominated for the October Manager of the Month award, insisted: “The players are giving it their all, but I believe they can still do better.” He also stressed the need to improve the team’s fitness and intensity, which dropped in the draw with Forest.

MU currently sit 8th, behind only Tottenham and Chelsea on goal difference. A positive result in North London would see the Red Devils go 5 games unbeaten for the first time since early 2024, a period in which they also scored two or more goals in five consecutive games.

However, the head-to-head record is a haunting one as MU have not won against Tottenham in their last 7 encounters in all competitions (2 draws, 5 losses), including losing all 4 of their last matches. The last time a team won 5 consecutive matches against the Red Devils was Liverpool in the period 2000-2002.

Force information

Tottenham Hotspur are facing a serious injury crisis. A series of key players will be absent, including James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin, Dominic Solanke, Yves Bissouma, Ben Davies, Kota Takai and Archie Gray.

In addition, Lucas Bergvall is still unable to play due to his recovery period. Mohammed Kudus is doubtful after missing the midweek win over Copenhagen.

On the other side, MU only has one long-term injury, Lisandro Martinez.

Expected lineup

Tottenham (3-4-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Bentancur, Palhinha, Sarr; Kudus, Richarlison, Simons.

MU (3-4-3): Lammens; Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw; Amad, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dalot; Mbeumo, Cunha, Sesko.

Score prediction: Tottenham 2- 2 MU
