Accordingly, the vaccination rate for foot-and-mouth disease in cattle and buffaloes reached 88.13%, an increase of 295% over the same period; erysipelas reached 44.4%, an increase of 56% over the same period; lumpy skin disease in cattle and buffaloes reached 29.5%, an increase of 105% over the same period; foot-and-mouth disease in pigs reached 24%; swine cholera reached 57%, an increase of 42% over the same period; avian influenza reached 32%, an increase of 43% over the same period. In particular, the vaccination rate for rabies in dogs reached 73.46%, a decrease of 19% over the same period.
Deputy Head of the Provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, Duong Viet Phuong Tuan, said: The results of vaccination of livestock and poultry in the first phase of 2025 in the province are basically higher than the same period in 2024.
However, compared to the targets assigned by the Provincial People's Committee, only the results of vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease in cattle and dogs and rabies vaccine basically reached the protection rate, while the remaining vaccines did not ensure the disease protection rate for livestock according to regulations.
To contribute to better implementation of animal disease prevention and control, the Provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine recommends that localities regularly disseminate information and propaganda about the benefits and significance of vaccination for livestock and poultry to people and the community; resolutely and strictly handle individuals and organizations that do not comply with vaccination for livestock against dangerous infectious diseases that require mandatory disease prevention measures by vaccines; continue to review and count the total livestock and poultry herd, and develop a second vaccination plan in 2025 after the local authorities at the commune level merge and come into operation.
