Completed construction of new Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital

After 4 years of construction, the project to build a new Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital has been completed, transforming it from a hospital with degraded facilities to a fully-equipped medical facility with international standard infrastructure.

On the morning of April 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health coordinated with other units to organize the inauguration ceremony of the new construction project of Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital.

Accordingly, after 4 years of construction (since the beginning of 2021), the project has been officially completed in the excitement of the Ho Chi Minh City health system and the people here.

With a total investment of nearly 2,000 billion VND from the city budget, the hospital currently has a total floor area of ​​over 72,293m², a scale of 12 floors above ground and 2 basements. From 550 inpatient beds, the hospital has been upgraded to more than 1,000 beds.

Specialized departments have also been established and invested in modern, synchronous specialized equipment. In particular, the hospital also has a helipad to meet the needs of emergency patients.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dang Quoc Quan - hospital director - said that in the past, the hospital's facilities and infrastructure were degraded, and equipment was severely lacking. Especially in the rainy season, the hospital faced flooding, and the medical team had to wear boots to examine and treat patients.

Now the hospital has been completed, it is a key project of the Ho Chi Minh City health sector, meeting the wishes and expectations of all people in the Hoc Mon area.

In order for the project to be fully developed, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy - Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested Hoc Mon General Hospital to be proactive, active and constantly improve the quality of human resources.

At the same time, the Civil and Industrial Committee is assigned to invest in equipment suitable to the scale of the project, meeting the medical examination and treatment needs of the people.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health advised that in the coming time, the hospital needs to focus on supplementing and training qualified human resources in both expertise and management to operate the new facility effectively.

At the same time, develop according to the model of satellite departments and satellite clinics. It is expected that by the end of this year, the hospital will receive additional modern equipment, becoming a trusted place so that people in Hoc Mon and neighboring areas will feel more secure when using the services.

The Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health also requested four end-line hospitals including People's Hospital 115, Tu Du Hospital, Children's Hospital 1 and Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology to provide comprehensive support to this important gateway hospital.

Meet the needs of domestic and international medical examination and treatment

Hoc Mon is a suburban district located at the Northwest gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, about 20km from the center, with an area of ​​nearly 110km² and a population of over 550,000 people. The district borders District 12, Binh Tan District, Binh Chanh District, Cu Chi District and the provinces of Binh Duong and Long An.

The project to build a new Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital not only aims to meet the medical examination and treatment needs of people in districts and neighboring provinces in the country, reducing pressure on end-line hospitals, but also becomes a place to receive and treat patients from neighboring countries such as Laos and Cambodia.
