In just a short time recently, cases of fake drugs, fake functional foods, and fake milk have been exposed, causing confusion among consumers. Counterfeit products are manufactured with sophisticated labels and barcodes, making it difficult for consumers to distinguish with the naked eye.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc, former lecturer of Clinical Pharmacy, Deputy Head of Scientific Research - Library, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, commented: "Counterfeit drugs do not contain medicinal ingredients, more dangerously, they can contain toxins that are harmful to health. Therefore, consumers need to be alert, cautious, not to buy and use drugs and functional foods without clear origin. If you have any doubts about the origin of the product, absolutely do not buy it, to avoid bringing disaster upon yourself."

According to him, the Drug Administration of Vietnam ( Ministry of Health ) has also issued instructions on strictly controlling the buying and selling of drugs, especially prescription drugs and drugs subject to special control, on social networks and e-commerce platforms. The Ministry of Health also recommends that people should only buy drugs at legal pharmacies with full certification and transparent information. Therefore, pharmacies must absolutely comply with the law, providing drugs and functional foods of clear origin to customers. This is the responsibility of pharmacies to the people and the whole society.

Recognizing its responsibility and role in protecting consumer rights, FPT Long Chau has launched the campaign "Transparent origin for a healthy Vietnam".

FPT Long Chau has been proactive in publicizing the origin of pharmaceutical products and integrating the function of looking up the registration certificate of functional food products throughout the system. Through this, FPT Long Chau empowers people to protect their own health.

Simple way to verify the origin of medicine

Ms. La Thi Van (40 years old, Hanoi) holds in her hands the cataract treatment products she just bought at FPT Long Chau pharmacy. Ms. Van said: "Every time I go to the doctor, the doctor prescribes me many types of medicine and functional foods. When I come to Long Chau to buy medicine, if I have any questions about the origin, ingredients, and uses of the medicine, I just need to ask the pharmacist here and I will get all the answers."

Ms. Van added that currently on each FPT Long Chau medicine invoice, there is a link to the Online Public Service Portal of the Department of Drug Administration at https://dichvucong.dav.gov.vn/congbothuoc - this is a source of accurate information on medicines and functional foods, helping customers like her more conveniently verify the origin of the product.

Just access the link, then enter the registration number printed on the medicine box, a few steps have helped Ms. Van easily find out the origin, manufacturer, see the product introduction paper,... from there she can feel secure when buying medicine.

Not only providing the address of the Online Public Service Portal of the Drug Administration, the entire online system of FPT Long Chau also displays the full product registration number and the product declaration registration receipt. This is a mandatory requirement according to the provisions of Decree 15, health protection foods (or commonly called functional foods by users) must be granted a product declaration registration receipt by the Food Safety Department before being circulated on the market. Consumers can look it up at https://nhathuoclongchau.com.vn.

In addition, each store in the system of more than 2,050 Long Chau Pharmacies nationwide is equipped with computers for customers to look up information when needed.

Ms. Van shared: "In the past, I also often had the habit of looking up drug names online to find information, but each channel gave a different assessment. I used to buy drugs in many places, but Long Chau is the first pharmacy to proactively integrate and publicize the origin of drugs to protect people's rights. I consider this a practical, timely, and necessary action, especially in the context of drugs and functional foods being mixed with real and fake."
