Hoang Nguyen Thanh won the "Conquering Ba Ra Peak" Cross Country Race for the 9th time

(NLDO) – Marathon runner Hoang Nguyen Thanh became the "King of Mountain Climbing" for the 9th time at the annual tournament held in his hometown Binh Phuoc in the first days of the new year.

On the morning of January 6, the 30th National Cross Country Mountaineering Championship "Conquering Ba Ra Peak" officially kicked off in Phuoc Long town, Binh Phuoc province. This year's tournament gathered 71 domestic and foreign sports delegations with over 1,700 athletes.

In addition to many famous runners such as Trinh Quoc Luong, Hoang Nguyen Thanh, Pham Tien San (men's team) and Pham Thi Hong Le, Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa (women's team), the tournament also has the participation of quality runners from Dak Lak, Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa, as well as athletes from Champasak province (Laos) and Kratie (Cambodia).

The "Conquering Ba Ra Peak" mountain cross-country race was established in 1993 and two years later it was officially included in the national competition system. In recent times, the race has attracted thousands of domestic and foreign athletes to participate, thereby contributing to the success of the race in terms of both quantity and quality.

Hoang Nguyen Thanh has no rivals in the mountain climbing competition in his hometown.

The athletes competed in 22 events, including 8 national events, 2 national amateur events, 8 provincial amateur events and 4 events for foreign teams. After more than half an hour of competition, the host athlete Hoang Nguyen Thanh finished first on Ba Ra peak, over 700m above sea level, with a time of 33 minutes 51 seconds 93.

This is the 9th time Hoang Nguyen Thanh has become the "king of mountain climbing" at the National Cross Country Mountaineering Championship "Conquering Ba Ra Peak".

Former player Pham Thi Hong Le (Binh Dinh) won the women's tournament.

In the women's team, as expected, with the level of a national athlete, Pham Thi Hong Le became the "Climbing Queen" at the 30th "Conquering Ba Ra Peak" National Cross-Country Mountaineering Championship in 2025.

Despite facing fierce competition from home athlete Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa and many other opponents, with her class, Pham Thi Hong Le finished first with a time of 31 minutes 41 seconds 98.
