Spectacular performance 'Legendary Train' opens Ho Chi Minh City River Festival

(Dan Tri) - On the evening of May 31, thousands of people and tourists flocked to Saigon Port (District 4, Ho Chi Minh City) to enjoy the art program "Legendary Train" within the framework of the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival.
Following the success of the first event in 2023, the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival in 2024 opened with a large-scale art performance called "Legendary Train" at Saigon Port (Photo: Nam Anh). In his opening speech, Mr. Phan Van Mai - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - said that the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival in 2024 has the mission of honoring the beauty and value of heritage rivers, while spreading the love and pride of the people for the city through diverse and unique activities that harmoniously combine tradition and modernity (Photo: Nam Anh). At exactly 8pm, the art show "Legendary Train" officially took place. This is the first outdoor musical show held on the Saigon River, gathering more than 1,000 professional actors and extras to perform (Photo: Nam Anh). "The Legendary Ship" consists of 5 chapters: Launching - Arriving - Setting sail - Making waves - Reaching far, telling the story of special ships that have come and gone on the Saigon River, associated with important milestones of the country and have gone down in history (Photo: Nam Anh). Nearly 2 hours long with climax moments, large-scale scenes and carefully invested sound and light, "The Legendary Train" recreated the story of young man Nguyen Tat Thanh leaving his homeland on the ship Amiral Latouche-Tréville on June 5, 1911 at Nha Rong Port, determined to find a way to save the country (Photo: Nam Anh). Not only that, the grand opera also depicts the image of the place where the first Vietnamese ships were launched, the historic ships that set sail on the Saigon River carrying the dreams and aspirations of the Vietnamese people, or the heroic and resounding battles of the nation on the river (Photo: Trinh Nguyen). "The Legendary Train" uses many types of performances such as contemporary dance, jazz, hip hop, ballet... to convey the content. This is a grand musical that combines historical and entertainment elements to convey meaningful messages from the heroic historical story of the nation. Not only that, the program also applies cinematography techniques to the stage, with the performance space and scenery constantly changing to create surprises for the audience (Photo: Trinh Nguyen). According to Ms. Le Hai Yen - General Director of the program, to have a large-scale, meticulous and emotional program, more than 1,000 professional dancers and extras practiced "with sweat and tears" for many months (Photo: Trinh Nguyen).
This is also the first time the Ho Chi Minh City River Festival has organized fireworks displays at three locations: the Saigon River bank (Thu Duc City), Ba Son Wharf (District 1) and Landmark 81 riverside park (Binh Thanh District) (Photo: Huu Khoa). 3D mapping projection technology, water screens, moving water stages, drone performances, fireworks... brought an eye-catching art program, leaving a deep impression on the hearts of the audience and visitors attending the opening ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh City River Festival 2024 (Photo: Trinh Nguyen).
