On April 21-26, in the capital Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), a delegation of Vietnamese students attended the 2nd Turkmenistan Mathematical Olympiad at the invitation of the Ministryof Education of Turkmenistan.
The team was selected based on the results of the 2025 Regional and International Olympic Team Selection Exam, aiming to create conditions for more Vietnamese students to participate in international academic exchange activities, expand learning opportunities and improve their capacity.
On April 25, 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training received the results that all 6/6 candidates won Gold Medals.
Specifically, the 6 students who won Gold Medals include: Nguyen Tri Hau and Nguyen Tri Hien (Grade 11, Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, Quang Nam); Nguyen Phuc Nguyen (Grade 11, Newton Secondary and High School, Hanoi ); Tran Quang Nhat (Grade 12, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang); Lai Gia Khai (Grade 11, Pedagogical High School for the Gifted, Hanoi); Vu Viet Ha (Grade 12, Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, Hai Duong).
The 2nd Turkmenistan International Mathematical Olympiad, an invitational competition (invited countries were invited by the host country Turkmenistan), was organized by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan to honor the “International Year of Peace and Trust”.
The exam aims to nurture students' talents and abilities, enhance friendship, develop progressive thinking and open-mindedness among young people.
According to the regulations, the Organizing Committee officially awards prizes to 50% of the participating contestants, in which the ratio of Gold, Silver, Bronze medals is 1 - 2 - 3. In addition, the Organizing Committee awards certificates of merit to students who achieve the maximum score for a math problem.
The test takes place over one day. The test consists of 5 problems, each worth 10 points. The time limit is 5 hours.
