UNESCO Executive Board adopts decision recommending honoring scientist Le Quy Don

The Vietnamese delegation attending the meeting included comrades Pham Dong Thuy, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; Pham Van Nghiem, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and leaders of Hung Ha district.

Cultural celebrity Le Quy Don was born in Dien Ha village, Dien Ha district, Son Nam town, now Dong Phu village, Doc Lap commune, Hung Ha district. He was the greatest scholar of Vietnam in the 18th century. With his profound wisdom, he left behind about 40 books covering almost all contemporary knowledge. Le Quy Don's great scientific career is a priceless heritage, respected and commemorated by the state and people in many forms.

Participating in sideline activities of the UNESCO meeting related to the dossier submitted to the scholar Le Quy Don, Thai Binh province organized a conference to introduce the scholar Le Quy Don and promote culture and tourism .

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Pham Van Nghiem, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that Thai Binh is one of the localities located in the dynamic economic region of Vietnam and is developing strongly. Thai Binh is a land rich in tradition, imbued with national cultural identity with many unique features, the homeland of Cheo art and many traditional festivals. The working trip to France is an opportunity for Thai Binh province to promote the life and career of scholar Le Quy Don as well as the cultural traditions and development potential of Thai Binh province. Through the conference, Thai Binh province hopes that representatives of French organizations, partners and the Vietnamese community in France will further promote scholar Le Quy Don. Thai Binh province also hopes to seek cooperation opportunities in culture, health, education, training, human resource exchange and cultural events with French partners. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that he will create the most favorable conditions to organize cultural and tourism exchange events with French partners and economic cooperation, increasing import and export of goods between the two sides in the coming time.
