The Council of Experts concludes on the case of mother and child death

According to the conclusion of the Professional Council, the pregnant woman Bui Thi Hang was admitted to the Emergency Department, Lam Dong Hospital 2 at 10:03 on April 21, 2025, and was transferred by the doctor to the Obstetrics Department at 11:20 on the same day. She was transferred for surgery at 12:20 on April 21, 2025.

The Professional Council of Lam Dong Hospital 2 concluded: The process of receiving pregnant woman Bui Thi Hang was in accordance with regulations. The attitude of medical staff during the reception, treatment and care was appropriate. Diagnosis and treatment were appropriate.

Diagnosis of death: amniotic embolism monitoring/post-cesarean section (2nd pregnancy, 37 weeks 3 days)/viral fever monitoring.

Previously, as reported by CAND Newspaper, Ms. Bui Thi Hang was brought to the hospital by her family in a conscious state, with good contact, pink skin and mucous membranes, temperature 38.70C, blood pressure 108/53 mmHg. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Lam Dong Hospital 2 diagnosed the pregnant woman with fever of unknown cause, 37 weeks and 3 days pregnant with her second child.

At 12:20 pm, the mother was still conscious, the fetal heart was difficult to hear, the uterus was contracting slightly, the urine catheter was red, the hospital ordered an emergency cesarean section because the mother was in acute fetal distress.

At 12:25, the surgical team brought the girl out, but her whole body was purple, her heart rate was zero, and she had no reflexes. Despite 30 minutes of resuscitation by the doctors, the baby still died.

After the surgery, the mother's health deteriorated, Lam Dong Hospital 2 held an inter-hospital consultation with Cho Ray Hospital and Tu Du Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City. The mother was treated with intensive resuscitation, intubation, controlled ventilation, intravenous fluids, pain relief, hemostasis, etc.

With the family's consent, Lam Dong Hospital 2 sent a team of doctors to transfer the pregnant woman to Cho Ray Hospital, but when she reached Dinh Quan district (Dong Nai), the pregnant woman Bui Thi Hang became critical and died.
