Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh emphasized: Over the past 40 years, the Vietnamese atomic energy sector has made many important strides, from basic research, applications in medicine, agriculture, industry, to radiation safety and environmental protection, human resource training and step-by-step access to advanced nuclear technologies in the world. These contributions have made a practical contribution to socio-economic development, protecting people's health and the country's energy security. Vietnam is in the process of promoting energy transition, developing science and technology to serve the goal of green development, sustainable development and ensuring national energy security.
Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh highly appreciated the participation and support of international partners, especially the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), the RCA mechanism (an intergovernmental agreement officially operating to strengthen cooperation in research on the application of atomic energy and training courses related to nuclear science and technology), and the cooperation of research institutes, universities and enterprises, demonstrating the spirit of extensive international cooperation, contributing to improving Vietnam's nuclear science and technology capacity in the new period. The Deputy Minister believes that with a serious, responsible and open working spirit, the Conference will be a great success, bringing out many valuable results, recommendations and initiatives, making practical contributions to the development of nuclear science and technology in Vietnam in the coming years.
The 16th conference was organized by the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute on a large scale and regional scale. This is a place to meet and exchange new research results and applications in the field of nuclear science and technology, which is of interest to the Vietnamese scientific community, an open forum to discuss current issues of international nuclear science and technology, and discuss the application of atomic energy in different socio -economic fields. The conference attracted the participation of more than 400 delegates, including many experts, scientists, managers, relevant localities, domestic universities, delegates from countries with advanced nuclear science and technology...
Through serious criticism by scientific councils, the Organizing Committee selected 206 reports, of which 117 were presented at specialized subcommittees and 89 were posted on boards. The conference included 1 day of reporting at the plenary session and 1.5 days at 7 specialized subcommittees. The plenary session on October 8 focused on an overview of the achievements in nuclear technology development and the contributions of countries with advanced nuclear technology in the world. The reports also discussed key tasks such as the Project of the Center for Research on Nuclear Science and Technology - CNST; Small Modular Reactor Project - SMR; Electron Beam Technology and the Development of Accelerators for Irradiation...; Human resource development plan and solutions to improve technical support capacity of Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute… Within the framework of the Conference, there was also a Workshop with the theme “Experience in nuclear power project management”, with the participation of speakers from many countries around the world.

The 16th National Conference on Nuclear Science and Technology is an important scientific event for the Vietnamese atomic energy community, contributing to promoting scientific research and developing the application of atomic energy in the country in the context that our country is actively promoting science and technology, and applying atomic energy for peaceful purposes.
According to the Conference Organizing Committee, since 1996, with the permission of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute has successfully organized 15 national conferences. Compared to the previous 15 conferences, this conference has a special significance, taking place in the context of Vietnam's decision to return to the nuclear power development program and promulgate many important policies and legal documents to promote the development of atomic energy in many areas of economic and social life. Atomic energy is assigned important tasks in the process of national development and maintaining national security and defense. The new tasks require new requirements on vision, capacity and human resources.
