Attending the Conference were Mr. Etienne Jenni, Director of Trade Promotion Department, Swiss Economic Directorate; Mr. Ha Van Sieu , Deputy Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and more than 100 delegates from GMS member countries; representatives of national tourism agencies, associations, tourism businesses operating in the field of sustainable development, important partners of GMS such as the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and the Asian Ecotourism Network.

Mr. Etienne Jenni, Director of Trade Promotion, Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, informed that Switzerland always wants to share its experience in sustainable tourism development to support the development of the tourism and hotel industry. Through strengthening the policy framework, applying internationally recognized sustainability standards, building capacity for private enterprises operating in the tourism industry, developing tourism management skills, and high-end hotels, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs aims to promote tourism growth that brings long-term economic, social and environmental benefits to the community.
At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and clarifying two topics: Awareness and experience in sustainable tourism development in GMS countries; Vision and actions of GMS in sustainable tourism development.
At the discussion session, delegates shared about effective tourism development models, international standards that need to be applied, ways to mobilize resources and promote international cooperation in this field; shaped the vision and common goals until 2030, clearly defined the coordinating role of the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office and the active participation of all stakeholders in implementing the region's common strategy.
Through the conference, Ninh Binh province hopes that Ninh Binh tourism will work with GMS countries to research and build a tourism route connecting Mekong heritage, contributing to increasing common values and enhancing the image of the whole region. From there, expand international cooperation, especially connecting products and sharing data with localities in the GMS.
