This is a meaningful activity to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
The workshop is an important forum for Party press agencies to look back on the past, assess the current situation and propose development directions in the new context. Under the direction of the City Party Committee, the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Hanoi City Party Committee, the Hanoi Moi Newspaper, the host unit, has made efforts to prepare the necessary conditions to ensure the success of the workshop.
Important forum with profound meaning
This workshop takes place at a time when our entire Party and people are carrying out a new revolution, a revolution of reorganizing and streamlining the apparatus, preparing the country to enter a new era. The theme of the workshop clearly demonstrates the determination of Party journalists in inheriting and promoting the glorious tradition of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism, while at the same time strongly transforming to meet the requirements of the digital age.
This is an opportunity for local Party newspapers to share and learn from experiences, seek solutions to improve content quality, innovate operating methods and affirm their pioneering role on the ideological and cultural front.
The workshop is also an opportunity for journalists to review the glorious 100-year journey of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, with its proud golden pages. From the secret newspapers born in the fire of the struggle for national liberation, to the newspapers carrying the call to awaken the country in the work of building and defending the socialist Fatherland, the revolutionary press has always been a sharp weapon on the ideological and cultural front.
Generations of Vietnamese journalists have made important contributions to the victory of the revolutionary cause, arousing patriotism, self-reliance, and encouraging the spirit of great national unity. That glorious tradition is the baggage and the driving force for today's Vietnamese revolutionary press, in which the Party's press system plays a key role, to continue writing proud pages of history in the new era.
In particular, the Workshop will emphasize the invaluable legacy of President Ho Chi Minh - the genius leader of the nation, the teacher of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press. He clearly stated the principles and purposes of revolutionary journalism as serving the working people, serving socialism, serving the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, and actively contributing to world peace. President Ho Chi Minh considered journalists as revolutionary soldiers, instructed on the responsibilities of the press and required the building of a team of journalists who are both "red" and "professional". His thoughts still retain their current value, serving as a guideline for current press activities.
“The solution” for the path of innovation and development
The world is entering the era of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, with profound and comprehensive changes in all areas of social life. Our country is striving to achieve two 100-year goals: By 2030 (the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam), we will become a developing country with modern industry and high average income, and by 2045 (the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam), we will become a developed country with high income. To realize that aspiration, our entire Party and people need to be united and join forces, in which the revolutionary press in general and the Party newspaper system in provinces and cities in particular play a very important role.
The new situation requires the Vietnamese press to innovate strongly and comprehensively, constantly improving the quality of content and form. Digital transformation is no longer a trend but a vital requirement for every press agency. The Party newspaper system, as the voice of the Party Committee, government and people of localities, must be a pioneer in this process, strongly applying information technology and artificial intelligence to create attractive, multimedia press products that spread strongly.
The 30th Conference of Party Newspapers of Northern Provinces and Cities with the theme "Promoting the tradition of revolutionary journalism, pioneering digital transformation, accompanying the country into the new era" is a place for Party journalists to exchange and discuss to clarify the development picture of Party press agencies in the digital era; and to seek "solutions" to the difficulties and challenges facing Party press agencies at a time when the country is implementing a new revolution.
In the current context of multi-dimensional information and fierce competition, how can Party newspapers maintain their principles and purposes while innovating their methods of information transmission, attracting readers, especially the younger generation? From building technological infrastructure, training human resources to developing digital journalism products, exploiting data and interacting with readers on digital platforms, what is the direction, what are the lessons?
Currently, localities are making efforts to reorganize administrative units and organize two-level local governments, while maintaining operations without interruption or delay, with the determination to strive with the whole country to achieve an annual GDP growth rate of 8% or more. How can Party newspapers truly be a reliable bridge between the Party, the government and the people, accompanying, sharing, and making worthy contributions to localities to successfully carry out those political tasks?
In order for the Party press agency to be able to “Promote the tradition of revolutionary journalism, pioneer digital transformation, and accompany the country into the new era”, the key factor is still the human factor. So what should be done to improve the capacity of staff, reporters, and editors? How to foster knowledge and skills in digital technology, data journalism, and multimedia journalism? How to pay attention to training and fostering political qualities and professional ethics?
These are the questions that will be answered by the presentations and discussions at the 30th Conference of Party Newspapers of Northern Provinces and Cities.
With the participation of Central and Hanoi Party Committee delegates, along with leaders of Northern Party press agencies and many invited guests who are leaders of Party press agencies across the country, the 30th Conference of Party Press in Northern Provinces and Cities will certainly take place in an exciting atmosphere with many enthusiastic and valuable opinions, contributing significantly to the planning of Party press development strategies in the new period; providing solutions for Party press agencies to be more confident and motivated to properly implement the meaningful theme "Promoting the tradition of revolutionary journalism, pioneering digital transformation, accompanying the country into the new era".
