City-level thematic workshop "Utilizing Violet software in teaching 7th grade geometry with a focus on developing students' qualities and competencies"
(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the afternoon of January 8th, An Duong district organized a city-level thematic workshop on “Utilizing Violet software in teaching geometry to 7th grade students according to the orientation of developing students' qualities and competencies” for the 2023-2024 school year.
Attending the workshop were Mr. Do Van Loi, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training; Mr. Luong The Quy, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Duong district; representatives from relevant agencies and units; and nearly 400 leaders and teachers representing secondary schools in the district.

The leaders presented flowers to the teachers who were conducting the thematic project.
The workshop consists of two parts: a report on "Utilizing Violet software in teaching 7th grade geometry with a focus on developing students' qualities and competencies" and a demonstration lesson on "Lesson 13. Two congruent triangles. The first congruence case of triangles" (7th grade geometry). The workshop was conducted by teachers from Nam Son Secondary School, An Duong district.
Through this workshop, delegates were introduced to how to install and use Violet; heard presentations on some basic and complex programming simulation examples; learned about the initial steps and key points in Violet programming; and were introduced to some Flash files embedded in Violet.

Illustrative lesson: “Lesson 13. Two congruent triangles. The first congruence case of triangles”.
To effectively apply information and communication technology (ICT) in teaching, each teacher needs certain skills in using and exploiting software. Students need to be equipped with minimum skills in using software to be able to perform operations and interact with the teacher. This will maximize the effectiveness of the software and create interest for students in the learning process, knowledge acquisition, and competency development. In addition, it is necessary to correctly identify the knowledge, skills, competencies, and qualities to be achieved, and then build appropriate digital learning materials. Teachers need to master the classroom, skillfully apply teaching techniques, and smoothly and effectively deliver learning tasks. They must control the pace of work and ensure students complete their work quickly and accurately.

A view of the conference.
Digital transformation is a key task for the entire city, with the Education and Training sector being one of the five sectors selected by the city as a pioneer in its implementation. Recently, An Duong district has focused on improving the quality of education and training with many effective approaches and modern methods, becoming the first locality in the city to have 100% of its schools meeting national standards. The district's Education and Training sector is striving to gradually raise the standards of schools in the area, while also improving indicators to meet the requirements of the upcoming administrative transformation into a district-level unit.
