An Giang Province Swimming, Diving and Rescue Competition 2025

On June 3, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of An Giang, the Department of Health in coordination with the People's Committee of Tinh Bien Town organized the launching ceremony of swimming training, drowning prevention for children in An Giang province, and the opening ceremony of the 18th swimming, diving and drowning rescue competition "Swimming universalization program to prevent drowning accidents for children" in 2025.

Athletes compete fiercely

The event attracted the participation of 400 students in Tinh Bien town; more than 100 athletes from 8/11 districts, towns and cities in the province.

Athletes are divided into 2 groups: 6-11 years old and 12 years old and above, competing in 72 individual events and 7 relay events. In the individual event, athletes compete in breaststroke, backstroke, freestyle at distances of 25m, 50m and 100m; mandatory 25m rescue. In the relay event, they compete in 4 x 50m freestyle for men and women; 4 x 50m freestyle for men and women; and 4 x 25m relay diving for men and women.

The activity aims to contribute to the successful implementation of the Swimming Popularization Program, reducing drowning accidents for children in rivers, canals and areas with frequent flooding. At the same time, raising awareness of drowning prevention in the community; promoting the benefits and effects of swimming practice, safety skills in the water environment, and developing the swimming practice movement in the whole province.
