DTO - To help members and women earn more income and reduce difficulties in life, from the beginning of 2023 to now, all levels of the Women's Union in Hong Ngu district have mobilized members and women to participate in vocational training and transfer classes; provide advice, introduce jobs and create conditions for members and women to access preferential loans to create jobs for themselves.
Women in Thuong Lac commune, Hong Ngu district have a stable income from weaving plastic chairs.
The Women's Unions at all levels in the district have surveyed the need for vocational training, promoted and mobilized students and women to participate in vocational training classes. The Women's Unions of communes and towns actively organized vocational training activities for unemployed students and women and introduced them to work in plastic chair weaving groups and garment processing groups, contributing to creating jobs for students and women. By June 2023, the whole district had 74 students and women participating in vocational classes: weaving foot mats, industrial sewing, bonsai repair, eel farming techniques; 39 students and women were taught plastic chair weaving, water hyacinth weaving, home economics, etc.
Through vocational training and vocational training, 47 students and women were supported with job referrals with monthly incomes of 3.5 million VND or more. The Association at all levels also mobilized 203 female workers to participate in job transactions at the Dong Thap Employment Service Center. In addition, in coordination with the People's Committee, sectors, and socio- political organizations of communes and towns, 76 workers were mobilized to work abroad for a limited period under contracts.
In Thuong Lac commune, Hong Ngu district, Ms. Pham Thi Huong - President of the Women's Union of Thuong Lac commune, Hong Ngu district, said that in order to support female workers and women to have jobs and increase their income, from the beginning of 2023 until now, the Women's Union of the commune has mobilized more than 33 female workers and women to participate in job fairs. At the same time, it mobilized members of the plastic chair weaving association in the commune to teach plastic chair weaving to 52 female workers and women. At the same time, it introduced female workers and women to work in 2 plastic chair weaving associations to help female workers and women have jobs and stable income with an income of 2 - 3.5 million VND/month.
The Women's Union at all levels in the district also considers and creates conditions for women to borrow preferential capital sources from the Social Policy Bank and the Women's Economic Development Support Fund of the Provincial Women's Union. Since the beginning of 2023, the district has had 774 women borrowing capital from the Women's Economic Development Support Fund with an amount of more than 5.6 billion VND; 459 women borrowing capital from the Social Policy Bank with an amount of more than 16.2 billion VND. In particular, the Women's Union of communes and towns also maintains 34 Women's Groups contributing revolving capital to help each other develop the family economy with 474 participating members. To date, the Women's Groups contributing revolving capital to help each other develop the family economy have mobilized more than 830 million VND, supporting over 470 women to borrow capital for livestock farming and small business to improve income.
For example, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dieu (born in 1974), residing in Hamlet 3, Thuong Phuoc 1 Commune, Hong Ngu District, makes a living by making chiffon flowers and hats for sale. However, due to lack of capital for raw materials, her job of making chiffon flowers and hats has encountered many difficulties. In early 2023, the Commune Women's Union considered and supported Ms. Dieu to access loans from the Women's Economic Development Support Fund of the Provincial Women's Union and the savings group of Hamlet 3 with an amount of 15 million VND to develop the flower making profession. Ms. Dieu shared: "Thanks to the loan, I invested in buying more materials, so my work is more convenient. Currently, with the job of making chiffon flowers and hats for sale, after deducting expenses, I have an income of 2 - 3 million VND/month. I have more money to cover family expenses, so life is more stable."
According to the Women's Union of Hong Ngu district, by the end of 2023, the Union at all levels will continue to strengthen the association and cooperative groups; carry out vocational training, mobilize students and women to participate in vocational training classes to solve employment for students and women. Actively survey, consider and create conditions for students and women to access preferential loans to develop the family economy; mobilize resources to care for and promptly support cases of poor households and those in especially difficult circumstances, contributing to and adding motivation for students and women to strive to stabilize their lives.
