More than 60 health workers trained on non-communicable diseases

On May 21, in Nha Trang City, the World Health Organization (WHO) in Vietnam in collaboration with the Khanh Hoa Provincial Center for Disease Control organized a training course to update knowledge on some non-communicable diseases for 60 district-level medical staff in the province.

Trainees are being updated with knowledge at the training class.

At the training course, trainees were updated with new knowledge on diagnosis and treatment of non-communicable diseases including: Hypertension, diabetes, nutritional counseling to prevent diseases for people with the above diseases at the health station - the primary treatment facility. The training content focused on providing knowledge on treatment initiation, re-examination after 1 month of treatment, treatment directions for patients with mild to high and very high blood pressure; cases requiring transfer to higher levels; detection and treatment of hypoglycemia risk; guidance for patients with 2 diseases on a low-salt diet, maintaining ideal weight, increasing physical activity, not smoking, limiting alcohol, monitoring progress and complications... Along with that, trainees were introduced to an overview of how to monitor, manage and treat patients with hypertension and diabetes at the health station.

The training course ends on May 22.
