This is considered a strategic step to maintain growth momentum during a period when the global electric vehicle (EV) market is facing many challenges, especially in terms of costs, charging infrastructure and consumer demand.
According to Mr. Toshihiro Mibe - Honda's global CEO, a total of 13 new generation hybrid vehicles (HEV) will be introduced by the company in the coming years, all of which integrate the latest e:HEV system and upgraded ADAS.

Although the specific list of models has not been announced, many sources expect familiar names such as Civic or CR-V, which already have hybrid versions in some markets, to continue to be upgraded and integrated with new technologies. In addition, it is not excluded that other small cars and SUVs will also be "electrified" in this direction.
Notably, Honda also confirmed that the new generation of HEV models will use the new 'H' logo, which was introduced on the 0 Series electric vehicle concept models. Initially, this logo was developed specifically for EV lines as a symbol of technological advancement, but now the company has decided to apply it to HEVs to clearly demonstrate its commitment to comprehensive innovation in design and technology.
Honda's plan to launch 13 hybrid models from now until 2027 raises an interesting question: Will the Vietnamese market be included in the distribution roadmap for these new generation models?

Currently, Honda's hybrid product portfolio in Vietnam is still quite limited, mainly consisting of the City e:HEV and CR-V e:HEV, both of which are completely imported vehicles. Notably, no HEV models have been assembled domestically, showing that the company's electrification strategy in the Vietnamese market is still in the exploratory stage.
Despite the increasing demand for fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles, especially in the context of incomplete charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, preferential policies for hybrid vehicles are still not as clear as those for electric vehicles (EVs). This could be a major barrier that makes companies, including Honda, hesitant to expand their HEV portfolio.
However, if Honda decides to bring new generation HEV models to Vietnam, especially with improved e:HEV technology and upgraded ADAS, this will be a remarkable step forward in the company's electrification strategy, while opening up more valuable options for Vietnamese consumers in the "green" car segment.
