This proposal is to implement the direction of the Government Office in Official Dispatch No. 4623/VPCP-KGVX dated May 25, 2025, regarding the inspection and assessment of the technical status of the national treasure "Nguyen Dynasty Throne" and propose solutions for preservation and restoration in accordance with legal regulations.
In Official Dispatch No. 6495/UBND-CN, the People's Committee of Hue City stated that current regulations do not have specific guidance on the authority to establish a Council for the evaluation, preservation and restoration of national treasures. Therefore, to ensure scientific , comprehensive and in accordance with regulations, the city recommends that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism preside over the establishment of the Council, or issue a document authorizing Hue City to preside.
The Hue City People's Committee also proposed the composition of the Council to include prestigious cultural heritage experts, along with representatives of relevant management agencies and professional units. The specific list of members has been attached in the official dispatch.
The Nguyen Dynasty throne is not only an artifact of material and artistic value, but also a spiritual and political symbol of an entire historical dynasty. Preservation and restoration must ensure the principle of preserving the original state to the maximum extent possible, avoiding harsh interference, and complying with national and international standards on cultural heritage conservation.
Hue City People's Committee hopes that the Ministry will soon respond so that conservation work can be implemented promptly, both to overcome the consequences of the incident and to create a premise to further enhance the responsibility for heritage protection in the coming time.
