
Attending the conference were Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang; Ambassadors of EU member countries in Vietnam and leaders of Quang Ninh province.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Cong affirmed that the organization of "Vietnam-EU Day" in Yen Tu has a profound symbolic meaning; with two world heritages, Ha Long Bay and Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son-Kiep Bac Complex, along with hundreds of tangible and intangible cultural heritages, Quang Ninh identifies culture as the foundation and driving force for sustainable development and is a pioneer in transforming the growth model from "brown" to "green", developing cultural industries, heritage tourism, encouraging creativity and applying digital technology in promoting local cultural values.
Quang Ninh also wishes to expand cooperation with the EU in the fields of renewable energy, education, heritage conservation and sustainable tourism.
On this occasion, the province wishes to send a message from Quang Ninh - a land of converging heritage and shining creativity: culture is the root of development, a bridge connecting people and the path to a sustainable future.
In recent years, Quang Ninh has proactively implemented many major programs and projects on cultural and human development associated with international integration and foreign information of the Party and State.

Quang Ninh has become a leading locality in innovating development thinking, firmly following the green growth path, transforming from "brown" to "green", taking people as the center, culture as the foundation and sustainability as the goal.
In addition, Quang Ninh also strengthens integration and expands international cooperation, including with the European Union - an important strategic partner in the fields of renewable energy, heritage tourism, green economy, digital transformation, human resource training and cultural cooperation.
Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized that after 35 years of establishment, diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the EU have achieved many important achievements, especially when the relationship was upgraded to comprehensive partnership and cooperation in 2012.
Along with economic, trade and diplomatic achievements, cultural and people-to-people exchanges are always the connecting pillars, creating a strong relationship between Vietnam and the EU.

In particular, EU member countries have accompanied and supported Vietnam in the work of preserving and promoting heritage values, protecting the living environment and cultural practices, especially the culture of ethnic minority communities.
Today's event will open up more specific cooperation activities between Vietnam and EU countries in heritage conservation, art exchange, cultural creation and sustainable tourism development , contributing to deepening Vietnam-EU relations.
Mr. Julien Guerrier, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam, expressed his appreciation for Vietnam's cooperation and hospitality, and considered Vietnam a key and reliable partner of the EU; and affirmed that strengthening relations with reliable partners like Vietnam is more important than ever in the current geopolitical environment. Aware of the role of culture in the past and future, Vietnam has been placing cultural and human development on par with economic, political and social development, considering this the foundation, endogenous strength and great driving force for the country's rapid and sustainable development.
The national target program on cultural development for the 2025-2035 period is a breakthrough step, demonstrating the attention of the Party and State of Vietnam in creating stable, long-term resources for cultural development, repositioning culture in the national development model, towards an era of development by culture, by people and for people.
Within the framework of the conference, delegates from the EU visited Hoa Yen Pagoda, learning about the imprint of Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect - one of the complexes belonging to the Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son-Kiep Bac World Heritage Site recently recognized by UNESCO.
