What is the route of the high-speed railway through Long Thanh airport?

According to the pre-feasibility study report, the North-South high-speed railway project through Dong Nai province will basically follow the same corridor to the East along the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway. When reaching Cam My district, Dong Nai will turn left onto the central axis of Long Thanh airport to reach the station.

The high-speed railway station is expected to be built in front of terminals T1 and T2 of Long Thanh airport.

The passenger station of the North-South high-speed railway line through Dong Nai province will be located in the central area of ​​Long Thanh airport. The location will be in front of the airport terminal, close to the air traffic control tower. This station will be connected to the passenger terminal and other items by internal roads.

According to a representative of the Transport Design Consulting Corporation - JSC (TEDI, one of the members of the consulting consortium preparing the pre-feasibility study report for the high-speed railway project), according to the planning, regarding the route plan, the high-speed railway on the North-South axis will go through the middle of the main axis of Long Thanh airport.

This section will be about 40m long in front of terminals T1 and T2 of Long Thanh airport. This section is designed to run underground under the main road of the airport.

The design of the route with the underground option is to coordinate with the taxiways (the routes of aircraft at the airport connecting the runway with the apron, hangar, terminal) to ensure the clearance for these cross-runways. At the same time, it is also a special highlight for the airport, not affecting the landscape or other items of the airport project.

Also according to the pre-feasibility study report of the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis with the section passing through Dong Nai province, in addition to the route connecting to the main axis of Long Thanh airport to Thu Thiem station (Thu Duc city, Ho Chi Minh City), there will be an additional right turn along Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 to the North to connect with Trang Bom cargo station to serve cargo transit.

In addition, after 2030, Dong Nai has also planned two urban railway lines connecting localities to Long Thanh airport.

Regarding the location of the high-speed railway station on the North-South axis, the consultant representative said that the station will be located right in front of Terminal T1 of Long Thanh Airport.

Terminal T1 will be the first terminal of Long Thanh airport to be exploited, so placing the high-speed railway station right at this location will ensure synchronization when the airport comes into operation. On the other hand, due to the underground railway route, the project will build stairs to the sidewalk of the main airport road, through a pedestrian bridge connecting to the inside of terminal T1.

The proposed North-South high-speed railway line is 1,541km long, with a double track, 1,435mm gauge, electrification, infrastructure designed for a speed of 350km/h, 23 passenger stations with an average distance of about 67km, 5 freight stations connected to freight hubs. The line will start from Ngoc Hoi station ( Hanoi ), pass through 20 provinces and cities and end at Thu Thiem station (HCMC).
