Workers and laborers in difficult circumstances receive gifts from the Provincial Labor Federation

- Reporter: Sir, what are the outstanding activities this year's Sunday Month?

Mr. Nguyen Van Qui: Implementing the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Provincial Confederation of Labor has deployed a plan to organize the 2025 Workers' Month at all levels of Trade Unions (TU) with the requirement of creating a strong spread, attracting the attention of the whole society, especially employers and authorities at all levels to the jobs, lives and issues of workers; striving to have 70% or more of grassroots trade unions in all types of enterprises (DN) have at least one activity responding to the Workers' Month; 35% or more of grassroots trade unions in administrative agencies and public service units have at least one appropriate activity responding to the Workers' Month. Accordingly, the Unions at all levels focus on organizing 5 typical activities: The Creative Workers Program, Confidently Entering the New Era ; The May Dialogue Program and the Party Forum with Workers - Workers with the Party; The Thank You Program for Workers; organizing the Peak Month for developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions; Introducing and developing party members; Propaganda program, raising awareness of party members and workers.

- Reporter: Could you tell us more specifically about the activities to care for the lives of union members and workers during this year's Labor Month?

Mr. Nguyen Van Qui: This year's Labor Month, the Provincial Labor Federation presented 5,300 gifts to workers in difficult circumstances in the province, each gift worth 1 million VND; awarded support money to build 5 Labor Union Shelters for workers facing housing difficulties out of a total of 46 houses disbursed in the first 4 months of 2025, each worth 70 million VND; organized the Labor Thank You Program at 20 locations of enterprises and boarding houses in the province; at the same time, mobilized enterprises to give gifts to workers to accompany the Labor Thank You Program. On the occasion of Labor Month, the Provincial People's Committee presented 20 gifts to workers who had occupational accidents with a disability rate of 61% or more, each gift worth 2 million VND in cash.

In addition, the Provincial Federation of Labor organized an online contest to learn about the 2024 Trade Union Law and the 2024 Social Insurance Law among trade union members, employees, civil servants, and laborers in 2025; implemented the "Peak month for developing trade unions, establishing grassroots trade unions; introducing outstanding trade union members to the Party"; organized propaganda on policies, laws, and reproductive health care for female workers at 5 enterprises;...

- Reporter: How do you evaluate the significance of Workers' Month for the current workers', civil servants', laborers' and union activities?

Mr. Nguyen Van Qui: Practice shows that Labor Month has truly become a great festival for workers nationwide in general, and Long An province in particular, with many specific activities aimed at workers and receiving deep attention from Party committees at all levels, authorities, employers, the response of a large number of Party members, workers and positive recognition from the whole society.

In particular, implementing the Conclusion Notice No. 77-TB/TW, dated February 24, 2012 of the Central Party Secretariat on taking May every year as Labor Month, the Trade Unions at all levels have effectively carried out the goal of caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers; building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations in enterprises; at the same time, contributing to strengthening the leadership of Party committees at all levels, enhancing the responsibility of authorities at all levels in paying attention to building the Vietnamese working class in the period of promoting industrialization and modernization of the country ; thereby affirming the role and position of the Long An Provincial Trade Union in the socio-economic development of the country and the province. Also from those results, the Labor Month every year is considered the peak month for Trade Unions at all levels to organize activities to care for union members and workers. And Labor Month has truly become a moment of waiting for many union members, workers and trade union officials.

- Reporter: What message do you expect and want to convey in the 2025 Lunar New Year, sir?

Mr. Nguyen Van Qui: 2025 is the first year of implementing the 2024 Trade Union Law; the second year of implementing the Resolution of the 13th Congress of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the third year of implementing the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Trade Union Congress, which is also the time when trade unions at all levels in the province, with high determination and great efforts, take action to put the Resolution of Trade Unions at all levels, the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Trade Union Congress and the Resolution of the 13th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, term 2023-2028 into practice in the movement of workers, civil servants, laborers and trade union activities. Based on that requirement and meaning, in the Trade Union Month of 2025, the Provincial Trade Union hopes that each union member and laborer needs to promote responsibility, creativity, and flexibility in working, laboring, and producing; actively participate in studying to improve professional qualifications, professional skills, and vocational skills, etc.; must truly be a "soldier" on the "emulation front", promote initiatives, improve techniques; actively respond to emulation movements of the upper-level Trade Union and emulation movements at the grassroots level; especially the emulation movement "Excellent workers - Creative workers". For Trade Unions at all levels, it is necessary to focus on organizing and implementing effectively the activities of the Workers' Month in conjunction with the Action Month on Labor Safety and Hygiene ; thereby, taking care of protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests and resolving difficulties and concerns of workers, organizing practical and effective activities that are widely accepted by Trade Union members, workers, civil servants, and workers, and receiving attention and support from Party committees at all levels, authorities, and employers.

With the sense of responsibility, flexibility and creativity of the Trade Union at all levels through specific, focused and key actions towards the grassroots and towards the workers; at the same time, with the attention and close direction of Party committees at all levels, the coordination and support of authorities at all levels, the companionship of employers and the promotion of the role of the working class, we believe that the Workers' Month 2025 will truly be a climax taking place in May 2025, contributing to promoting the implementation of the goals and tasks of the Trade Union organization and successfully implementing the socio-economic development task in 2025 of the province.
