In Vietnam, World Vision International (WVI, USA) is implementing development programs and projects in 14 provinces and cities. In Da Nang alone, WVI's journey began in 1999 with the first program in the former Hoa Vang district.
Mr. Doseba Tua Sinay, Chief Representative of World Vision International (WVI) in Vietnam, said that WVI is currently actively implementing 5 development programs, including: Nam Giang, Nam Tra My, Son Tra, Lien Chieu regional programs and microfinance programs in 15 wards and communes across the city.
The focus areas include: health - nutrition, clean water - sanitation, child protection, livelihoods - microfinance, disaster response, climate change adaptation and support for children with disabilities. Each year, about 35,514 children and 23,357 households directly benefit from WVI's programs and projects.
In addition to the active support and long-term, close attachment of WVI, many other organizations such as Children of Vietnam (COV, USA), Lifestart Foundation (LSF, Australia), Activity International (AI, Netherlands) have accompanied and implemented many effective projects in Da Nang.
According to the City Union of Friendship Organizations, the unit is maintaining cooperative relations with nearly 30 foreign non- governmental organizations.
In the first 9 months of 2025, 11 organizations were mobilized to sponsor 15 projects/non-projects with a total value of nearly 17.2 billion VND. The projects not only provide short-term support but also create livelihoods, enhance community capacity, significantly improve the lives of many families, contribute to strengthening social security and developing the city's economy .
In mid-May, at the conference to strengthen cooperation and mobilize aid from foreign non-governmental organizations and partners held in Hanoi, the Union signed a cooperation agreement with two organizations: Children of Vietnam (COV) and Lifestart Foundation (LSF) for the period 2025 - 2028 and 2026 - 2029 with a total value of 17.92 billion VND. This is a testament to the trust and long-term commitment of international partners to the city.
In addition to direct humanitarian aid, the Union also promotes cooperation in the field of international experts and volunteers.
Notably, the 2024 - 2026 small and medium-sized enterprise support program sponsored by Catalyste+ (Canada) will bring 3 international experts to directly train and provide management and startup skills to 100 local startups.
Or the international volunteer program in Da Nang for the period 2023 - 2026 sponsored by Activity International (AI, Netherlands), attracting 148 volunteers to participate in social work at social protection centers, orphanages, kindergartens and primary schools.
Promote development cooperation
Success in attracting and effectively using foreign non-governmental aid comes from systematic and transparent mechanisms and policies; close coordination of functional agencies and the support of city leaders.
From licensing, approval, disbursement to project implementation supervision, everything is done quickly and in accordance with regulations, helping organizations operate with peace of mind.
Entering a new phase, Chairman of the City Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Ngoc Binh said that it is necessary to shift from the mindset of "give and receive" to "development cooperation".
Localities and sectors proactively research and learn about partners; review and develop projects based on practical needs and socio-economic development orientations to mobilize resources more appropriately and effectively.
From a partner perspective, Mr. Doseba Tua Sinay proposed: the city needs to speed up the approval procedures for programs and projects; promote inter-sectoral cooperation; share information and local development priorities so that non-governmental organizations can make data-based plans, in line with the city's common goals.
In the coming time, the Union will continue to implement sponsorship programs on livelihoods, social security, and economic development.
At the same time, expand partnerships in new areas: human resource development, including training in soft skills, life skills, vocational skills for disadvantaged youth, digital transformation, business development; climate change adaptation; cooperation in organizing workshops, improving leadership and management capacity for businesses and the city's young generation.
