The leaders of Da Nang city and Military Region 5 praised the spirit and responsibility of the hospital's medical staff and doctors in the past days who overcame all difficulties due to being isolated by floodwaters, doing a good job of treating hundreds of patients being treated at the unit, including dozens of emergency cases caused by floods.

“After the flood recedes, epidemics often occur, so Vinh Duc General Hospital needs to fully prepare supplies, human resources, medicines and chemicals to thoroughly treat pathogens around the hospital, contributing to the medical system in the whole city to proactively prevent epidemics, contributing to protecting health, and soon stabilizing people's lives, activities and production,” Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Phan Thai Binh requested.

Da Nang City leaders requested that Military Region 5 have a plan to support Vinh Duc General Hospital in case floodwaters continue to surround and isolate the hospital for many days.

The working delegation of Da Nang city and Military Region 5 visited, encouraged, and shared difficulties with patients and their families in the conditions of heavy rain and floods that lasted for many days, and encouraged patients to feel secure during treatment.

The leader of Vinh Duc General Hospital said that in any difficult situation, the hospital promotes the spirit of a good doctor like a mother in treating patients.

During the recent days of heavy rain and floods, although the hospital was deeply flooded and the houses of some doctors and workers were flooded, no doctors or workers were absent, and all positions of the hospital were still operating normally.

Faced with the severe damage caused by floods in Da Nang, many organizations, individuals, businesses, and philanthropists have simultaneously turned to the people in the disaster area, expressing their feelings and responsibility to widely spread the spirit of "Da Nang's solidarity" to the community.

According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City, as of October 30, the total amount of donations reached 5 billion VND. This amount was supported by DACINCO Construction Investment Company Limited to provide food, medicine and necessary relief equipment, helping to minimize human and property damage, and at the same time, supporting the response and overcoming of consequences caused by floods.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front of the city also received more than 50 tons of necessities including: rice, instant noodles, drinking water, blankets, life jackets and medicine donated by people and benefactors to send to people in flooded areas.

Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong said that the contributions of businesses, philanthropists and people will create a positive ripple effect to the whole society, joining hands to help people overcome damage and quickly stabilize their lives.

“In order to promptly respond and support people in the city who are isolated and affected by floods, the Fatherland Front closely coordinates with the government to review the damage, make a list of households in difficulty, and ensure that all support is allocated publicly, transparently and promptly. The unit coordinates with the City Military Command and the Red Cross to receive, manage and deliver to people as soon as possible, especially in deeply flooded and isolated areas,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong shared.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front of Da Nang city receives funds at its headquarters at 12 Tran Phu Street, Hai Chau Ward; goods are gathered at 470 Le Van Hien Street, Ngu Hanh Son Ward (former headquarters of the Military Command of Ngu Hanh Son District) for distribution to the people.

In addition to the support through the Front system, many philanthropists, volunteer groups, business clubs and famous individuals on social networks directly came to Da Nang to deliver relief gifts. During the peak days of the flood, there were dozens of trucks carrying rescue canoes, dry food, mineral water, raincoats, medicine and essential necessities to people in deep and isolated flooded areas.

In the wards of Hoa Xuan, Hoa Vang, Dien Ban Tay, Dai Loc, etc., many volunteer groups have set up “field relief points” to serve people in deep flooded areas. The groups “Joining hands for the Central region”, “Grains of love” and “Kitchen of love” distribute thousands of hot meals, bread and drinks to people, rescue forces and doctors on the front lines every day.

For example, the “Charity Kitchen” run by Ms. Truong Thi Kep (Cam Le Ward, Da Nang City) attracts dozens of women to participate. In one day, Ms. Kep’s team can cook more than 600 meals to support people affected by severe floods. “All funds are voluntarily contributed by everyone with the desire to contribute a part of their efforts to share with people in flooded areas,” Ms. Truong Thi Kep shared.

In addition to assisting in the evacuation of people and property, wading through the rain to overcome landslides, clearing debris, and rescuing victims, the soldiers of Military Region 5 also take care of every meal and sleep for the people. Currently, 150 meals and more than 200 kg of banh chung have been given by the soldiers to patients being treated at Tra My Commune Medical Center.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Tam, Deputy Political Commissar of the Defense Command of Region 3 - Tra My Commune, said that providing free meals to people is the policy of Military Region 5 for localities during the rainy and flood days. This not only helps people to ease their difficulties and share with the sick, but also reduces the need for patients' relatives to travel, ensuring safety during the rainy and flood days.

Not only stopping at material gifts, many units also organized visits, encouraged the spirit, helped clean houses, disinfect and repair schools and medical stations after the flood receded. The spirit of mutual love, solidarity and sharing is spreading strongly throughout society, contributing to adding strength for Da Nang to soon overcome difficulties, stabilize people's lives and restore production after the flood.
