Previously, VNA reporters reported that at around 9 p.m. on October 30, local people, while fishing on the Nam Mo River, passing through Pung village, Tuong Duong commune, discovered an unexploded bomb exposed due to the shallow river water level. The bomb was located about 30 meters from the river bank and about 200 meters from Tan Xa bridge.
Immediately after receiving the notification, the Military Command of Tuong Duong commune sent forces to verify, cordon off the scene, and coordinate with local authorities to notify people not to approach the dangerous area. The handling plan was urgently deployed with the participation of the provincial Engineering force and related units.

Upon inspection, the bomb was identified as an MK-82 demolition bomb dropped by the US military during the war, measuring 30cm in diameter, 140cm long, weighing about 250kg and still with the detonator intact. The authorities defused the detonator, salvaged and transported the bomb to Bu Lon stream, Thach Duong village, Tuong Duong commune for destruction. The entire process was carried out strictly, ensuring absolute safety for people and property.
