According to the VNA correspondent in South America, also attending the meeting was Mr. Alex Kawano, Federal Congressman, Secretary General of the Brazil - ASEAN Parliamentary Friendship Group. Ambassador Bui Van Nghi highly appreciated Brazil's role in ensuring a stable and strategic supply of agricultural products for Vietnam. The Ambassador also emphasized that Vietnam and Brazil are two highly complementary economies. Vietnam is a dynamic production and processing center in Asia, with strengths in electronics, textiles, footwear, seafood and processed agricultural products and is a bridge connecting Brazil and South American countries with the market of nearly 700 million people of the ASEAN bloc, the Indo- Pacific region as well as southern China. Meanwhile, Brazil is the world's leading agricultural power, leading in exporting soybeans, corn, beef, chicken, cotton and iron ore, with which Vietnam wishes to strengthen economic, trade and investment relations as well as access to markets of countries in the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) and other Latin American countries.
Ambassador Bui Van Nghi affirmed that Vietnam wishes to increase exports of seafood, cashew nuts, wooden furniture, processed agricultural products, textiles, mobile phones, electronic computers and components to Brazil.
Ambassador Bui Van Nghi also emphasized the need for a free trade agreement between Vietnam and MERCOSUR and hoped that Brazil - as the rotating President in 2025 and Brazilian industrial and agricultural associations - would strongly support this process, thereby forming a comprehensive legal framework for trade, investment and sustainable development cooperation between Vietnam and Brazil as well as member countries.

For his part, Mr. Maurício Buffon affirmed that Brazil considers Vietnam an important strategic partner in Southeast Asia, and believes that with a solid foundation of political and diplomatic cooperation and great economic potential, the two countries will continue to expand cooperation in the fields of agriculture, processing and agricultural trade, contributing to promoting the Vietnam - Brazil Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to develop substantially, balanced and sustainably.
Mr. Buffon also said that Aprosoja plays a bridge role between producers, import-export businesses and international markets, in which Vietnam is considered a leading potential partner in Asia.
Brazil is currently the largest soybean supplier to Vietnam, accounting for 57.2% of total imports. In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam imported 1.81 million tons of soybeans, of which Brazil accounted for more than 57%.
