Go Cong Tay District: Strengthening care for victims of Agent Orange/dioxin

(ABO) On May 16, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (AO/Dioxin) of Go Cong Tay district, Tien Giang province held a conference to review 10 years of implementing Directive 43-CT/TW of the Secretariat of the 11th Party Central Committee "On strengthening the Party's leadership in resolving the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the US during the war in Vietnam" (abbreviated as Directive 43).

Attending the conference was President of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of Tien Giang province, Tran Thi Quy Mao.

Over the past time, the Party Committee, the government, the sectors and organizations at all levels in Go Cong Tay district have thoroughly grasped, closely deployed and seriously implemented Directive 43 to all cadres, Party members, union members, association members and people. Through the propaganda and mobilization work of the Front, sectors, unions and the Association of Victims of Agent Orange, the social community has joined hands with sectors and levels in supporting resources to help Victims of Agent Orange.

At the end of 2015, Go Cong Tay district had 567 people infected with Agent Orange and continued to review over the years, up to April 2025, the district had 777 people infected with Agent Orange. Over the past 10 years, the district's Association of Victims of Agent Orange at all levels has proactively coordinated with other organizations to mobilize a total amount of money and material converted into money of over 15 billion VND, built 17 charity houses, 75 wheelchairs, rocking chairs, mobilized free medical examination for 1,200 Victims of Agent Orange; supported 15 interest-free loans for victims...

In general, after 10 years of implementing Directive 43, it shows that the Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and socio -political organizations at all levels in the district have a deeper awareness of the need to deal with the consequences of toxic chemicals caused by the US during the war in Vietnam, thereby giving better attention to the care and assistance of victims of Agent Orange, and many policies and regimes continue to be supplemented and amended in a timely manner...

Speaking at the conference, Chairwoman of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange in Tien Giang Province, Tran Thi Quy Mao, acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange in Go Cong Tay District in the past time. At the same time, she hoped that in the coming time, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange in the district would continue to promote the dissemination of Directive 43; focus on implementing policies for victims; promote the mobilization of support resources, share the pain of Agent Orange, help victims, overcome difficulties and improve their lives...

At the conference, the People's Committee of Go Cong Tay district commended and rewarded 6 collectives and 6 individuals with outstanding achievements in activities for AO victims over the past 10 years.
