RT reported on November 5 that IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that US President Donald Trump's decision to resume nuclear weapons testing shows a global crisis that is deepening and weakening the international peace and security system.
Speaking to French television channel LCI on November 4, Mr. Grossi stressed that President Trump's decision was "a manifestation of deep insecurity, growing tension and division," adding that this undermined both global peace and the nuclear non-proliferation regime.

Last week, President Trump accused Russia and China of conducting “secret” nuclear tests. However, both Moscow and Beijing have denied these allegations.
Mr. Grossi questioned the veracity of President Trump's statement, stressing that any nuclear test by other countries would be detected by the international monitoring system established under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. The IAEA Director General noted that the organization responsible for monitoring compliance "could immediately register such phenomena."
Mr. Grossi called for the restoration of the United Nations' role in maintaining global peace and protecting the nuclear non-proliferation system amid rising tensions.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov affirmed that neither Russia nor China has resumed nuclear testing and both are committed to fulfilling their obligations under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow would only consider resuming nuclear weapons testing if other nuclear powers formally abandoned their moratorium.
