Recently, PSSI Commissioner Arya Sinulingga revealed that Indonesia is looking to invite the German team to play a friendly match during FIFA Days in October.
Will the German team come to Indonesia for a friendly match?
According to Indonesian media, PSSI plans to spend 16 million USD (about 380 billion VND) to invite the 2014 World Cup champion to play a friendly match.
During the most recent FIFA Days, the Indonesian team also spent up to 380 billion VND to compete with the Argentine team.
But in that match, the South American team's number one star, Lionel Messi, was absent, along with Di Maria.
In the match held in Jakarta (Indonesia), coach Lionel Scaloni mainly used reserve players and this made Indonesian fans unhappy.
Many people even asked PSSI to refund their tickets because there were no top stars present.
Indonesia will begin its 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with two play-off matches against Brunei in October.
If they easily overcome this weak opponent, coach Shin Tae-yong and his team will win tickets to the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia.
At this stage, Indonesia will be in the same group with Vietnam, Philippines and Iraq.
The second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup will begin on November 16, 2023 and last until June 11, 2024.
In early 2024, Indonesia will continue to face the Vietnamese team at the 2023 Asian Cup, along with Japan and Iraq.
According to Indonesian media, PSSI is in the process of naturalizing 6 players to prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 Asian Cup.
These players include Jay Idzes (PSV, Netherlands), Thom Haye (SC Herenveen, Netherlands), Emil Audero (Sampdoria, Italy), Mees Hilgers (FC Twente, Netherlands), Ilias Alhaft (Netherlands) and Ragnar Oratmangoen (FC Groningen, Netherlands).
