Writing on Threads, Instagram head Adam Mosseri confirmed that he was testing a "dislike" button on February 14, 2025. He said some of you may have seen that Instagram is testing a new button next to comments.

The "dislike" button will appear as a down arrow next to the "like" button in the comment section, Mosseri did not post a detailed image but Lindsey Gamble's page published an image showing that it resembles the vote button on Reddit. When users click on it, this action will not be visible to the public, the goal is to help users express their dissatisfaction with the comment privately, without creating pressure on social networks.
