According to MacRumors , Apple continues to demonstrate its interest in user experience with a small but valuable improvement in iOS 18. The familiar 'Power Reserve' feature, which allows some functions such as device search and NFC communication to work even when the phone is off, is now upgraded on the iPhone 15 series. Specifically, users will still be able to see the time on the lock screen even when the battery is exhausted.
According to images shared on Reddit, an iPhone 15 running iOS 18 with a dead battery still shows the time in the upper left corner of the screen, next to the battery icon and the message 'iPhone is Findable'. This feature is said to be available only on the iPhone 15 and is not yet supported on older Apple phone models.
iPhone 15 battery is dead but still shows time
Power Reserve is not a new feature, it has been present since the iPhone XR and iPhone XS. However, displaying the time when the battery is low is a notable new feature, helping users not miss important information even when the device is no longer active.
While it's unclear why this feature is limited to the iPhone 15, it's certainly a worthwhile upgrade that demonstrates Apple's attention to detail in delivering the best user experience.
