Apple has just officially launched the iPhone 2025 line with two versions, iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro. Surprisingly, for the first time in many years, the basic iPhone has become a much more attractive choice, with a series of valuable upgrades but the price remains the same as the previous generation.

Difference between iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro:

iPhone 17: Big upgrade, unchanged price
The iPhone 17 has been equipped by Apple with a 120Hz ProMotion OLED screen - a feature that is only available on the Pro line. Along with that is a dual camera cluster with a 48MP main sensor and a new 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera, providing sharp image quality and superior low-light shooting capabilities. The selfie camera has also been upgraded to 18MP with the Center Stage feature, providing a more natural video calling experience.
Notably, the starting storage has doubled from 128GB to 256GB, but the price remains the same at $799. This is the factor that makes the iPhone 17 the most "delicious - nutritious - cheap" upgrade in many years.
iPhone 17 Pro: Still for creators
In the high-end segment, the iPhone 17 Pro costs $ 1,099, comes with many professional features. The device is equipped with an A19 Pro chip with a vapor chamber cooling system, 12GB RAM and a maximum storage capacity of 1TB.
The biggest highlight is the 48MP triple camera system, including a telephoto camera that supports up to 40x zoom. In addition, the Pro also supports high-speed USB 3, 4K120 ProRes video, Apple Log, ProRes RAW, and Genlock - dedicated tools for content creators.
The design is also refreshed with a monolithic aluminum frame, rectangular camera cluster and improved durability thanks to Ceramic Shield 2 covering both the front and back.

Display and performance: The regular version catches up with the Pro
Both the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro feature a 6.3-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2622 × 1206, a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits outdoors and 1,600 nits when displaying HDR. However, the Pro still has an edge thanks to LTPO technology, which reduces the refresh rate to 1Hz, supports Always-on Display and saves battery.
In terms of performance, both use 3nm process chips, but the Pro version is superior thanks to its 6-core GPU and the ability to maintain long-term performance thanks to vapor chamber cooling.

Camera: A big upgrade for the regular iPhone
The highlight this year is that the iPhone 17 finally gets a secondary camera upgrade. Now users have both a 48MP ultra-wide sensor and an 18MP selfie camera. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro holds the advantage with a 48MP telephoto camera with 40x zoom and a professional video recording toolkit.
Both versions support Dolby Vision HDR, Cinematic Mode, and Dual Capture, but the Pro adds more advanced recording features for creative work.

Battery and charger: Lasting together
The iPhone 17 has a 3,692 mAh battery, while the Pro is larger with 3,988 mAh (Nano SIM) or 4,252 mAh (eSIM). Thanks to the new stacked battery technology, Apple promises significantly improved battery life: the iPhone 17 gets 30 hours of video playback, while the Pro gets up to 33 hours.
Both support 40W fast charging, for 50% battery in just 20 minutes, 25W Qi2 wireless charging, and wired reverse charging.

Conclusion: The basic iPhone 17 is more "worth buying" than ever
The iPhone 17 Pro remains the top choice for professionals, especially thanks to its telephoto camera cluster, more powerful chip, and advanced editing toolset. However, with a 120Hz display, 256GB of storage, dual 48MP cameras, 18MP selfie camera, and the same price, the basic iPhone 17 has truly become the “everyone’s” iPhone.
