According to Xinhua News Agency, the IRGC confirmed on November 15 that its navy had seized a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker off the country's southern Makran coast along the Gulf of Oman for alleged "violation".
"The tanker Talara was tracked and seized by the Iranian Navy's rapid response force at 7:30 a.m. on November 14 (local time) following orders from the Iranian judiciary and after monitoring the vessel's movements," said a statement carried by Sepah News, the official news agency of the IRGC.

The ship was reportedly carrying 30,000 tonnes of petrochemical products, destined for Singapore, when it was seized. The statement added that after inspecting the ship and examining its cargo and documents, the IRGC navy confirmed that the ship had committed a “violation” by carrying “illegal” cargo.
The report said the operation was carried out “to protect Iran's national interests and resources.”
Earlier, a US official said on November 14 that Iran had seized a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz and diverted it into Iranian waters. According to Washington, this was the first such interception in months in this strategic waterway.
