Remember the gratitude, fulfill the love

Việt NamViệt Nam01/05/2025

The silent sacrifices of the previous generations have become a solid spiritual support for today's youth to firmly step into the future. In recognition of this merit, through concrete and practical actions, the Youth Union at all levels has been preserving and spreading the meaningful tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source".

Practical action

In recent years, the Youth Union and Association in the province have implemented many models and activities to take care of families with meritorious services, heroic Vietnamese mothers, war veterans, and relatives of martyrs...

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, said: The Provincial Youth Union always considers showing gratitude to the previous generation as the responsibility of the Youth Union - Association. Trips to the source, activities to care for people with meritorious services or building houses for families with preferential policies... are all aimed at reminding today's young union members of the glorious past, thereby fostering a sense of responsibility and patriotism in the hearts of each young union member.

Accordingly, in response to the movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025", from March 2025 to present, the Youth Union chapters at all levels in the province have supported the construction of 242 new houses and the repair of 137 houses for people in difficult circumstances and policy families. Mobilizing more than 4,590 working days with a total cost of nearly 704 million VND. Each completed house is not only a material shelter, but also a symbol of affection and sharing.

In April 2025, the Provincial Police Youth Union coordinated with local authorities to provide support funds to 3 policy families in Vinh Thanh District and Hoai Nhon Town with a total amount of 120 million VND. Not stopping at one-time support, the unit also has a long-term relationship with policy beneficiaries.

Major Pham Hong Vu, Head of the Provincial Police Youth Union, shared: “In addition to mobilizing funds to build and repair houses for war invalids and martyrs’ families, we also coordinate with philanthropists to support heroic Vietnamese mothers; regularly visit and monitor their health and life.”

In addition to the activities of caring for people’s lives, activities of visiting and giving gifts are also organized regularly. Every July, “Gratitude Meals” or martyrs’ cemeteries are lit up with candles of gratitude by the Youth Union members in every district, town, and city as a silent but sacred thank you to those who have fallen for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

The Youth Union at all levels has also constantly innovated ways to express gratitude by applying modern technology. Since the beginning of March 2025, Hoai An District Youth Union has coordinated with the Hoai An - An Lao Agribank Youth Union to carry out the youth project "Digitalization of Martyrs' Cemetery".

The team members conducted field surveys, using 360 VR Camera technology to locate, record, explain and upload data to a digital platform so that people and relatives of martyrs can look up information via QR codes anywhere.

Along with that, red addresses such as Mai Xuan Thuong Mausoleum (Tay Son District), Hong Linh Party Cell Relic Site (An Nhon Town), martyrs’ cemetery… are also priority places for units to practice their traditions and journey back to their roots. These addresses are not only regularly cared for and preserved but also become destinations for living historyeducation , helping young people understand and appreciate the value of peace.

Historical Connection with the younger generation

In addition to taking care, the Youth Union and Association organizations in the province also proactively create bridges for the younger generation to listen to and understand more about the previous generation.

At the seminar "Carrying on the tradition - 50 years of heroic martial arts land" organized by the Provincial Youth Union at the end of March, many young union members were moved when listening to the stories of fighting and battlefield memories from living witnesses.

Recalling his heroic youth, living with the “rain of bombs and bullets”, veteran Ngo Hong Khanh (Quy Nhon City) - who participated in the campaign to liberate Binh Dinh province shared: “I witnessed my comrades falling in front of me, some of whom were willing to sacrifice themselves so that their comrades could live and fight, bringing peace to their homeland. Thanks to this talk show, I have the opportunity to recount the bravery of my generation. I hope that the younger generation will always maintain good qualities and live responsibly to be worthy of that sacrifice.”

At the grassroots level, the Youth Union also regularly organizes “Journey to Red Addresses” so that young people can better understand the stories and characters that made history. This visual approach helps young people, especially students, to access history more easily than propaganda through theory or books.

As one of the units that regularly organize trips to red addresses, Ms. Dang Thi Tuyet Le, Secretary of the Youth Union of Quang Trung Ward (Quy Nhon City), said: "At the end of March, we took members to visit Mai Xuan Thuong Mausoleum (Tay Son District). When hearing about the life of Mr. Mai Xuan Thuong, many first-time participants were impressed and expressed their desire to participate more. Trips like this help them understand more about their hometown's traditions and be more proud of its history."

Not only organizing large-scale activities, many units also maintain daily attention to policy beneficiaries. Ms. Nguyen Thi Gia Nguyen, Deputy Secretary of the Ward Youth Union, President of the Youth Union of Dap Da Ward (An Nhon Town) - regularly visits Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Cai (born in 1930, in Bang Chau area, Dap Da Ward) and union members.

“We visited my mother, checked her health, gave her medicine and talked to her. This is a part of the union that we consider a responsibility, not waiting for holidays or Tet,” Ms. Nguyen said.

Gratitude is not just a one-day action, but is spread every day by the sharing and affection of Binh Dinh youth. From journeys to the source, candles of gratitude, to simple but persistent tasks, all are weaving a strong bond between two generations - a generation that went through war with an indomitable spirit and a generation today that continues in peace, carrying with it the love for the homeland and the desire to contribute...
