Tourists flock to check-in at Lai Vung's pink grapefruit garden in full bloom

According to Tuoi Tre Online, during the weekend of January 20 and 21, thousands of tourists flocked to Dong Thap province to visit Lai Vung red tangerine gardens that were ripening. Along provincial road DT851 to Long Hau, Tan Thanh, Hoa Thanh and Vinh Thoi communes (Lai Vung district), there are about 10 red tangerine gardens welcoming tourists .

The garden owner has 4-6 rows of beautiful, ripe tangerines with lots of fruit for visitors to visit and take pictures. The area for visitors to pick their own fruit is 2-3 rows. Another part of the garden is waiting to be sold to traders. This year, the garden owners have invested in more landscaping and pruned the tangerine garden beautifully for visitors to take pictures. The ticket price is 50,000 VND/adult, the price of tangerines is from 50,000 VND - 80,000 VND/kg.

Mr. Doan Van Kiet - owner of Hai Kiet tangerine garden (Long Hau commune) - said that since mid-October of the lunar calendar, the tourist spot has welcomed over 4,100 visitors. The number of visitors is high on the two weekends.

"During the last two days of the week before Tet, the number of visitors increased, estimated at about 2,000. The tangerine garden has an area of 5,000m2, with an estimated yield of 5 tons. Currently, tangerines are sold at the garden for 50,000 VND/kg for customers to choose," said Mr. Kiet.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tho - owner of Van Tanh tangerine garden (Vinh Thoi commune) - said that this is the second year the garden has opened to visitors. Therefore, preparations are more thorough, and the garden is decorated with miniature landscapes to serve tourists.

"Doing tourism increases income by about 50% compared to just selling fruit. Tangerines sold at the garden to tourists are priced higher than those sold to traders, plus additional income from ticket sales and food services," said Mr. Tho.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan, residing in Hoa Long commune, Lai Vung district, said that every year she and her friends visit the tangerine gardens. This year, the gardeners take better care of the fruit, so the fruit ripens evenly and beautifully.

"As a local, I see that this year there are more visitors. Not only on the convenient main road, but also in the tangerine gardens located on the inter-commune road such as Van Tanh garden, many visitors still come because the trees are tall, full of fruit, and eye-catching for photos," said Ms. Loan./.
