The opening ceremony was opened by an impressive drone performance. This was followed by the tea making part by local tea masters, accompanied by the melody of the Mong flute performed by artisans, along with a detailed introduction to Shan Suoi Giang tea, tea types and the traditional art of tea making. A special highlight was the art program “Tea scent in the clouds”, staged and performed by local people, recreating the image of the ancestral tea tree on stage, combining dances and songs imbued with the cultural identity of the Northwest.
In his opening speech at the festival, the leader of Van Chan commune emphasized that the local people and government always consider tea trees as a source of pride and a treasure bestowed by nature. Every year, Van Chan Shan Tuyet tea produces about 2,000 tons of fresh buds, becoming an important source of livelihood, helping hundreds of households escape poverty, stabilize their lives and gradually become rich right on their homeland.
In recent times, under the close attention and direction of the province, the commune has implemented many synchronous solutions to preserve, promote and enhance the value of ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees. Up to now, Van Chan is proud to have 13 OCOP tea products, of which 10 products meet 4-star standards, affirming its outstanding quality, competitiveness in the market and gradually reaching out to the international market.
The activities in the opening program vividly recreated the cultural life and people of Suoi Giang in the journey to turn Shan Tuyet tea into the best tea in the world . Visitors directly experienced the tea making process and practiced tea brewing under the enthusiastic guidance of local artisans and tea masters.
At the festival, visitors can enjoy exciting activities such as: Rice cake pounding competition and offering tray competition. In particular, the impressive drone performance transporting fresh tea buds picked this morning to the festival space, where they are processed into famous, high-value teas, attracted the attention of attendees.
The 2025 Shan Tuyet Tea Festival in Lao Cai Province is not only an occasion to honor Shan Tuyet tea trees - a particularly valuable natural and cultural heritage, but also affirms the province's determination to elevate the Shan Tuyet tea brand. The event aims to develop tea into a key agricultural product, associated with green tourism, cultural tourism, and at the same time create sustainable economic value for the locality.
The festival is a major activity within the series of activities of the Red River - Lao Cai Festival 2025.
