
On November 22, the thematic exhibition "Vietnamese Currency - Journey along the flow of national history" officially opened at the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Branch, Region 2.
The event was organized by the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 2 branch, to introduce to the public typical artifacts of Vietnamese currency through the periods associated with the development stages of the country.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Vietnamese Currency – A Journey Through the Flow of National History”, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Pham Tien Dung said that the exhibition has an important meaning in honoring the historical and cultural values of Vietnamese currency and the position of the banking industry.
The exhibition reflects the development journey of Vietnamese currency associated with the history of struggle and national construction, and is also an opportunity to educate about tradition, arousing pride and responsibility of officials, civil servants and employees of the banking sector.

In addition to the exhibition, Branch Area 2 also introduced the Digital Space, including the traditional space of the Banking industry, the Ho Chi Minh cultural space and the electronic administrative procedure listing board system, demonstrating the spirit of innovation, creativity and digital transformation of the industry.
The Deputy Governor called on all officials, civil servants and employees to continue promoting the spirit of creativity, solidarity and dedication to work, contributing to improving the operational efficiency and value of the banking sector.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, emphasized that the exhibition "Vietnamese Currency - Journey through the flow of national history" is a meaningful activity, introducing the contributions of generations of the banking industry in the cause of protecting, building and developing the country. He also expected the exhibition to attract a large number of tourists, contributing to promoting tourism in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the same time, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung requested that officials and civil servants of the banking sector continue to promote the achievements and traditions of the sector, effectively implement the policies of the Party and State, and play a key role in maintaining stability and developing the economy.

The exhibition "Vietnamese Currency - Journey along the flow of national history" is one of the events organized by the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 2 branch in a series of events to celebrate major holidays and political events of the country and the City in 2025, and at the same time towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Bank of Vietnam (May 6, 1951 - May 6, 2026).
The exhibition displays more than 1,500 artifacts from 1875 to present such as Indochina banknotes, Uncle Ho banknotes, resistance money, promissory notes, purchase vouchers, coins, ... to current polymer money.
Each artifact is preserved and cherished, like a living witness of each period. Each coin and banknote depicts the image of the country, people, culture and spirit of Vietnam, thereby creating a big picture of the historical flow of the nation, the history of a resilient, simple but proud country.

The exhibition is open free of charge on weekends, from 9am in the morning and 2pm in the afternoon, starting from November 22, 2025 until the end of April 2026, for visitors aged 14 and over. Vietnamese visitors must bring their Citizen Identification Card or VNeID; foreign visitors must bring their passport when visiting.
The exhibition "Vietnamese Currency - Journey through the flow of national history" has 4 main themes, including: Indochina Currency; Financial banknotes/ "Uncle Ho" banknotes (1945-1954); National Bank of Vietnam Money (1951-1975); Vietnamese Bank Money (1975-1978)/ State Bank of Vietnam Money (from 1975 to present) and Digital space area.

In addition to the 4 themes and ancient artifacts, visitors can also experience realistic interactions through VR technology with a touch screen interactive area with 3 spaces: State Bank of Vietnam Tradition; Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space and Digitalization of public posting of administrative procedures at the State Bank of Vietnam Branch, Region 2.
The exhibition is held on the ground floor of the State Bank of Vietnam headquarters building, Branch 2, No. 8 Vo Van Kiet, Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. This is one of the typical and outstanding French architectural works in Ho Chi Minh City. The building was built in 1929-1930, inaugurated in 1931, and is currently being proposed for consideration for recognition as a national historical relic.
