Opening of Film Week celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024)

On the evening of December 10, at the Provincial Cultural Center, the Department of Cinema, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the Opening Ceremony of the Film Week commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024).

Attending the event were comrades: Dang Tran Cuong, Director of the Department of Cinema, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Sam Viet An, Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of departments, branches, sectors, and armed forces of the province.

80 years ago, implementing the policy of the Party Central Committee and the Directive of President Ho Chi Minh, on December 22, 1944, the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army - the first main force, the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army - was established. For the first time in the history of our country, there was a new type of army organized, led, educated and trained by the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh; a revolutionary army born from the people, fighting for the people, bearing the nature of the working class, the people's character, and the profound national character; fighting for the ideal goal of independence and socialism.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the opening ceremony of the Film Week held in the province is truly meaningful, a large-scale political activity, with the meaning of propagating the historical, cultural and revolutionary traditions of our nation, further highlighting the indomitable feats of the heroic Vietnam People's Army. From there, further fostering love for the homeland, the country, the will to fight and win for the entire Party, the entire people, the entire army, contributing to promoting the strength of great national unity, the will to self-reliance and self-strengthening of each citizen.

The film week is an opportunity to pay tribute, honor and remember the contributions of generations of fathers and brothers who have devoted and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation. Through this, it arouses deep gratitude towards the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

Leaders of the Department of Cinema, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented flowers to artists of film crews screening during the film week.

The two opening films screened during the Film Week include: Feature film “Green Star in the Waves”; documentary “Spirit Image” produced by the People’s Army Cinema.

The film week takes place from December 9 to 13 in the province and from December 19 to 25 nationwide.
