Cau River, also known as Nhu Nguyet River, originates from the Phja Boóc mountain range. The gentle river winds its way downstream through 6 provinces: Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang , Bac Ninh, Hanoi, Hai Duong to merge with Thai Binh River. The river not only has a poetic beauty among the mountains and forests of Viet Bac, but is also a witness to many historical ups and downs, depositing alluvium for fertile fields, nurturing culture and history, becoming an important part of the life and soul of every citizen.
During the resistance war against France and the US, the upper Cau River in Bac Kan was an important part of the Viet Bac War Zone - "The Windy Capital". The people on both banks of the Cau River were a solid rear base for the great frontline. Today, the Cau River always retains its peaceful beauty, suitable for developing ecological, historical and cultural tourism products.
The opening program was a colorful symphony, imbued with the cultural identity of Bac Kan province - the source of the Cau River, while spreading the spirit of connection between the provinces in the river basin including: Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong. The event not only depicted the cultural - historical - artistic depth of the land but also conveyed the message of the aspiration for sustainable development in the new era.
With a modern sound and lighting system, a unique floating stage, and the participation of many artists and hundreds of professional and amateur actors, the program brought a feast for the eyes and imbued with the identity of the Cau River headwaters.
"Bac Kan Culture - Tourism Week" in 2025 will be held from April 22 to the end of the April 30 and May 1 holidays with many attractive cultural, sports and tourism activities such as the art program Song Cau - Where the source converges; performing the typical intangible cultural heritage "Song Cau - The source of heritage" with representative heritages: Then practice, Luon singing of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups (Bac Kan), Tac Xinh dance of the San Chay ethnic group (Thai Nguyen), Quan Ho singing (Bac Ninh), Cheo singing (Bac Giang), Xam singing (Hanoi), Ca Tru singing (Hai Duong); exhibition of paintings and photos of tourism in the Cau River basin provinces; mountain bike racing on the new route of Bac Kan city - Ba Be lake; Bac Kan province's Pickleball tournament in 2025; regional specialty fair of the Cau River basin; Investment promotion seminars and sightseeing routes, nature exploration...
Through diverse activities, “Bac Kan Culture - Tourism Week” in 2025 is an opportunity to promote the unique cultural and tourism potential of Bac Kan and the provinces of the Cau River basin; at the same time, creating opportunities for connection and cooperation between localities, businesses and tourists.
