Monk Thich Phap Khong, abbot of Phuc Son Pagoda, said that the pagoda, also known as Khoang Pagoda by the locals, is located in Huong Dam village, Tong Son commune ( Thanh Hoa province). The pagoda has been around for a long time, but the locals do not know when it was built.
According to local people, the pagoda is located in a cave halfway up the mountain. For a long time, people often come here to worship on full moon days, holidays and Tet. In 2007, local people contributed their time and money to renovate the Tam Bao worship area to facilitate worship.

Venerable Thich Phap Khong added that in 2023, he was appointed as abbot of Phuc Son Pagoda. When he first arrived, there was almost no road to the Tam Bao.
To facilitate practice and help people easily go up to worship, the monk and Buddhists built steps from the foot of the mountain to the cave, and at the same time built a Buddha altar made of bamboo and thatch so that people have a place to worship.
In particular, the place where Master Thich Phap Khong lived and practiced was a small hut made of bamboo and thatch, located halfway up the mountain, about 5 square meters wide. Every time he went up to practice, he had to cling to the jagged cliffs to get there.
“Because I just arrived, I have only been able to build a few small items to serve the local people and Buddhist worshippers. I hope that in the near future, the pagoda will be built more spaciously, becoming a place of religious activities for the people in the area,” said monk Thich Phap Khong.
